06 HID Headlights

Anyone have a clue to as how much a set of brand new headlights would cost? Would they fit our cars?

Oh sorry, I wasn't aware of the fact that it was covered. I heard people just started taking delivery of the 06's. I'll do a search and see what comes up.

Well, I'm too lazy to search but I believe someone said about 800 each. Yeah, EACH. So, I would opt for a dual projector retro (low beam and bi-xenon). I've seen some here that did that it that would be about 800 each but you will have dual projectors and you can choose your own (heard Stanley's are good, i.e. TXS type).

actually it's less than that for the 06 headlights... 03-05 headlights are 800 each... i think there's a thread around here that mentioned they got them for $300+ each... which isn't bad i guess but that doesn't include bulbs...

Yeah but that guy also said that the $300 price was a "special hookup" so unless you know that same hookup, you wont get it for that price. I believe the lowest dealer quote ive seen is 1400$ for a pair. Not sure if this was with or without the D2S bulbs though....

since we are on this subject, i have a newbie question
Technically, 06 lights are the same as 05 but it has a
special cover lens to create projected light instead of
reflective. Am i right? and our 06 lights are not true bi
xenon as in BMW,Mercedes and Acura? if so, how's the
difference?
thanks,
mike

Actually, from what I hear, (and what I've seen Infiniti publish), the 06' lights are the real-deal bi-xenon projectors.

06 coupe lights are bixenon, as confirmed from several sources.

But I think alot of people are confused with bixenon stuff, and aren't even sure what advantage if any it has over single xenon. They just figure that bixenon has to be better than non bi-xenon. If there were tri-xenons, those would by default be the best!

The advantage of bixenons is a moveable shield to allow you to have a low beam and a high beam pattern. The bulb itself is always lit at the same intensity. You can't increase the intensity or brightness of an HID bulb, unless you're upping the watts on the ballast.

But bixenons tend to have cutoffs on the beam pattern that isn't as sharp. The sharpest and widest projectors in my view are the LS430s and the S2000s, both of which are single xenons. Unless you're driving with your high beams on for more than 50% of the time, most of the time you're using the bixenon in low beam mode, or in essence you're driving as if you had a single xenon projector. If that's the case, you might as well get a good single xenon. Check out hidforum for more info, more than you would want to know about HIDs.

Here's the cutoff from my single xenon TSX with modified shield. The beam was with a D2R bulb. After I scraped off that shielding, the beam is much brighter and more even than this.

Or, retrofit some bixenons into the fog/high beam portion of the 03-05 lights. I'm slowly trying to work on that project for myself on my own time.

Thanks brisk,

There pretty reasonable.

425.00 ea. without bulbs, like E_K stated you can use your old bulb (HID) D2R but you need to notch it out and remove the brown/black coating.

the bulbs are all different and needed to be order separately or you can buy the whole unit complete with bulbs for about 750.00~800.00 your choice

I chose to buy bulbs minus the HID for 40.00.

However, if you have the time and patience you can retro your own for about 300.00 to 400.00 for the whole job.
up to you.. I just don't have time to work on my own headlights so I chose this option... More expensive, but I'm happy
