Intelligent Key in 6MT 06

Can someone confirm this for me... I have an 04 coupe, and was interested in trading it in for an 06 because of a few new things (like the lights, bluetooth... but most of all, the intelligent key) but apparently when you opt for the 6MT, it deletes the intelligent key... is there any logic to this??

YES...you need the clutch down to start the car in any manual, if you're in gear and start the car, it will jump. Makes sense not to have it on a 6MT, cuz when you park you should always put it in gear, especially if you're on an incline. The e-brake does not work for **** when i'm on any slight incline.

Actually I don't think it makes sense at all. I wanted an '06 as well because of the IntelliKey until I found out they don't put it on the 6MT. Other manufacturers do it, the Corvette off the top of my head. Explain to me how it's any different from inserting a key, pushing the clutch down, and starting the car to entering the car with the fob in your pocket, pushing the clutch down, and starting the car. The car still isn't going to start until you depress the clutch no matter what method is used to start it. It makes no sense at all for them not to include IntelliKey on the 6MT. I wish it would have been available because that is an awesome feature and I would have went for an '06 all the way.

Well said, my buddy's new e90 330i has it and it's 6MT. The only difference is you push a button to start rather than turning. It is a cool feature to just walk up the car and it unlock without you having to play around with the keyfob to unlock it.

I bought the '06 coupe 6spd on Saturday and I was disappointed when the dealer handed me non-intelligent keys. Then I read in the guide that they weren't available and like the rest of you, I couldn't understand the logic to not including the intelli with it.

FYI 6mt costs only 300 more than the Auto, BUT it includes the sport tuned suspension package, which if added to the said auto makes the auto MORE expensive than the 6mt.

I thought it would be nice when I placed the order for my 06 6mt, but now that I think about it, I don't really want a somewhat sporty car to be like that. It feels nice to me to put in a key, and turn.

The next generation G will definitely have a push button ignition, like it's Lexus and BMW counterparts....once that happens the 6speed manual will be able to have intellikey.
