If you pay 10k for a paint job it'd better be by someone famous, or have like 80 coats or something ridiculous. A good quality paint job will NOT cost you that much, unless it's something entirely custom that would belong on a lowrider anyway.

If a good paint job cost $5-7 as indicated above then 10k does not sound that far off. I got a quote for $4K 5 years ago which did not include door jams, trunk or hood. Making the car look as if it came from the factory will cost you. They would need to remove door panels, trunk panels, lights, bumpers, hood insulation, air box & all other components that sit near or close to the sides of the engine bay.

p.s Most repeatable shops will not guarantee, stand by their work if you do the prep either

OH MY!!! That's just TOO RICEY!!! Car's resale value will definitely go down. You're spending 3-5k for painting to lose another 5k in car's value. That's what I call insane. But hey, it's your money...
I'd say get some nice wheels, drop your car a bit and stay clean especially with IP.

Hey, PADA TUTE...first, my car is DG, not IP...two, I own the car out right and don't plan on selling it so I can care less about resale value...three, who are you with your whole 33 posts? Leave OTOKOTO alone!

It's different and I think the black top and pillars might be a good look. It comes across ok in the photoshop pics, and I'm sure it would give a very sleek profile. And, as you know better than anyone, it's Randy's G.

Just to add what others have said - the factory paint job, while not the best, will be better than most re-paints unless you're willing to 5-8k on something the size of the G (and depending on the paint color you go with, how many clear layers they do, etc..). Re-painting is one of the most difficult "skills" I've ever tried to pick up, and finding someone that knows what they're doing is difficult.

LOL. I wouldn't even take a Chevy to Maaco for repainting, much less an Infiniti. Most of the work in painting a car is the prep work. I don't even think that Maaco bothers sanding your car before painting. If you can get a quality paint job for under $5K, you are getting a terrific price. Keep in mind that the hourly charge is going to be around $100, and you are talking about a lot of labor if the car is prepped properly.
