only throwing these thoughts out there to see how many might agree...

The more you get accustomed to higher and higher speeds the more capable of a driver you become when driving at the legal speed limits.

Have thought for years that US drivers are poorly trained compared to those from other countries.

US drivers also exhibit poor driving etiquette in addition to sloppy control - ie wrist drapped over the top of a wheel thinking they're in control.

"Grab the friggin wheel with both hands and get the @#$% off the phone you dumazz" I find myself yelling often

reason for all this is that US drivers have little respect for driving as a discipline.

Thus I propose that US driver's ed and driving tests include some track time at high speeds and in dangerous situations - that'll knock some fear into the generic american driver and get them to actually learn how to operate a vehicle properly.

I may not be thinking clearly about this right now, but my point is that if you accustom your self to safely controling a car at say 120-130 with a few variables thrown in without your heart skipping a beat you'll be an ace at the legal speeds.

US driving training and even traffic laws are in need a major overhaul - benchmarking german or italian laws would be a good start. benchmarking driving skills required of a crazy place like cairo will even help drivers learn how to actually use their cars safely.

anyway - will shut up now - but hope this forum would be a decent place for others to share their thoughts on this.

Yep - got land on the north end of Lake Corpus. I always liked Corpus Christi. Spent a lot of time on the beaches there as a kid.

it's true - drivers education in europe is far better and more thorough than here. here (for your permit) you watch some videos made in the 80's of how to stop at a stop sign and take a test you've already been given the answers to. i think the funniest part is you don't even have to drive on the freeway when you take your license test! however it's much more expensive/tasking in europe to get your license..well worth it in my opinion though.

i've hit 150mph and damn it was the greatest adrenaline rush i've experienced so far, but i don't think i could do it again. it was a crazy night though, 2am on the way back to sacramento from tracy with two of my friends and no other cars in sight. i'll never forget it especially because i ALMOST got pulled over once i hit downtown sacramento. some cop pulled outta nowhere with his siren, lights, and i swear he was swerving left to right in two lanes. anyway, i pulled over, and he passed me up .. i guess he had something more important to attend to.

I got up to 135 over the weekend in my loaner 05 G35 AT sedan. Was it my imagination or did the radio mute itself above 130? When I slowed down, the volume went back up.
