Bulb type
Re: Bulb type
The Bulb type for the Fog/High beam is and H4/9003. However if you plan to replace these with true Xenon's you will need a whole kit which include ballasts. Is that what you are shooting for?

Re: Bulb type
BADBOY, Nothin "would happen" since the fogs are not HID's you just have to use standard Halogen 9003/H4's that all. I am just saying if you want TRUE HID's (I do) then you have to purchase and expensive after market system which includes new wiring harness' and ballasts for the differing AC voltage. Your best and most cost effective bet is what I am doing, replacing the fog light with the same bulb type, just a brighter better color match. I think I am going with either Sylvania Silver Stars or PIAA EXtreme Whites check the links below and good luck man. Peace.

Re: Bulb type
Hmmmm. Good question Shooby I don't know what the model number is for the HID Head light bulb but it I do know it is not the same as the fog bulb. The Fog bulb is a Low/High beam Halogen. That is why it is yellow in color when compared to your driving Headlamp. The Fog bulb type is an H4 in case you would like to do what other have and replace the fog light with something that matches colorwise more closely to the driving headlamp even though it would not be a true HID bulb. Check my post above to Badboy. Peace.

Re: Bulb type
The low beam halogen is an H-1. The HID is a D2R if I remember correctly.

Re: Bulb type
Yes it's a DR2. When I was replacing my fog's I accidently opened the top light (hid) instead of the lower(fog). Written on the side of hte xenon bulb is DR2.
The fog lights are H4's, not H1's

Re: Bulb type
Yes, the foghighs are H-4s. The Gs not equipped with HIDs use an H-1 halogen bulb for the low beam .

Re: Bulb type
why would you want to add true HID system to a fog light system. Unless you wanna do it simply for the looks then i can understand, but otherwise you would create more glare for yourself in foggy weather.
You would also need D2R bulbs and no D2S.
D2R - for housing type headlight
D2S - Projector headlights
Going with just HyperWhite or Fake HID look alike bulb is good, but make sure to look out for the wattage on those. there are those bulbs that can put out like 100watts or more and they can easily burn the harness and the wiring on the new G. so be carefull. i would not go above 75watts if anyting.
Also... from my experience...those bulbs dont really last all that long... so be prepared to spend money on new bulbs every 6 months or so.
Some of those PIAA lights... can burn out within few week or even days..... well my did at least.
