Talking Center Console Change-Out on 2003 6MT Coupe

I have one of the early production run coupes (around ~3600 according to the VIN), and it has the 350Z center console. I'm thinking about changing it out, but have two questions for you guys:

1) For those of you who have the newer console, do you have two rear mats or one mat that spans the center tunnel/driveshaft? I have two mats because there's not room behind the console, but my wife's 03.5 coupe had a single piece mat.

2) Give me your opinions on the value of changing it out. Is the newer console that much nicer? More comfortable? I'm also hesitant to change it out because it is THE distinguishing feature of the first G35's to hit the streets.

Yeah, you might say I'm proud of that.

I don't have pics of my own, but here's a good set from another thread (thank you afr0puff). Check out the comparison picture towards the bottom and you'll see what I mean.

I have the one piece mat behind the seats.

I dont know if I'd waste my time changing it out. How much would it cost? You could spend that money somewhere where it would make more of a difference...

The part costs ~$200, and I would just do the install myself. That won't take you far on any other project, and I wouldn't mind having a real armrest and nicer looking console. Just trying to decide...

I did this back in late '03. Definitely worth doing IMO. Not a tough job, and looks a heck of a lot better, and you get the armrest in the bargain. However, if you're a smoker, you lose the front ashtray (but gain one in the rear). But, who would smoke in a "G"?
