turning off the 6mt

Re: turning off the 6mt
It is the throw out bearing, but it is a normal noise - there's nothing wrong with it or the tranny. When there's no load on the throwout bearing, it just rattles a bit when the engine shuts off.
Every RWD manual tranny car I've ever owned makes this noise when turning the engine off while in neutral without the clutch in. You should hear it on my Z06 - it's REALLY loud (because the transmission is in the rear), to the point they made reference to it in the owner's manual and video as a normal sound, so people don't freak out about it.

Re: turning off the 6mt
welp I took my car in today. It's sad, but infiniti says that's how the car is. There's nothing wrong. They told me they guess as the car breaks in things start to losen up and that clutch noise appears.
I wonder what more noise we have to look forward too?
They matched my clutch noise up with another 6mt that was in for service. It made the same exact noise.
If you don't like it, I guess don't ever release the clutch in neutral.
It's ok if any of you ever plan on getting a race clutch, it'll pretty much sound exactly the same.

Re: turning off the 6mt
my bad renault is french.
so since I have to put up with this rough clutch noise and lousy shifting. I'm just going to change the tranmission fluid.
I heard some people are trying redline? How much and what type of transmission fluid should I buy?

OK, so I guess we've come to the conclusion that the noise is "normal". But my question is: Why are some of us hearing it, and some not. And to different degrees. I understand that a little rattleing "may be" normal. But I am driving a $35,000+ vehicle and I am friggin embarrased to stop next to someone at a stoplight and take the clutch out! Mine is that loud. It just doesn't seem right....

same with the break squeeling and the noise if you take off in 1st gear the wrong way. Sounds like the whole tranny is going to fall out. Hopefully nissan catches onto this and does something about it.
I just wanted to make sure I said something about it to infiniti so if the tranny craps out I have proof something was originally wrong.
