NISMO Twin Turbo! Confirmed!

My dealer informed me that there would indeed be a Twin Turbo available for these cars and that it would put out a total of 420 HP for the coupe and 400 for the sedan. If a customer buys the turbo through the dealer it will NOT void the warranty!! The twin turbo kit is also completely bolt-on. Estimated cost installed was I believe about 5-6K, and I think about 3-4K for just the kit. I will double check on all this when I return to the dealer, he didn't say the kit would be made by NISMO but I don't know what other brand turbo they would sell besides NISMO. I suggest to anyone thinking about gettinig a turbo, to get this kit because 1) it is a twin turbo kit and 2) will not void the warranty.

Hope that helps out to anyone interested!

Re: NISMO Twin Turbo! Confirmed!

Any info on how the drivetrain (automatic) will be able to handle 420 ponies?

Re: NISMO Twin Turbo! Confirmed!

Not sure on that, but I was informed that the coupe was built the handle or run on about 500-600 HP, so at just 280 HP the dealer told me "the car is just barely purring." So based on that information I'm sure the AT and MT will handle the 420 HP very well.

Re: NISMO Twin Turbo! Confirmed!

wow! a twin turbo for $3000-$4000? Putting out 420 ponies? sounds kinda optomistic to me... Usually a sigle turbo itself cost $3000 +...... Thats a pretty big gain with 140 hp. That's a 50% increase in horsepower. Probably stage 1-2. But then, this is amazing. No other modifications required? wow, quite a jump in power. As for the warranty.....YAHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!++ cant wait

No Rumor...it's confirmed that dealerships will offer a twin turbo that will not void the warranty and is all bolt-on...what is questionable is brand name and cost.

Re: NISMO Twin Turbo! Confirmed!

It's only confirmed when the kit is actually for sale. I say that Nissan/Infiniti would be the exception rather than the rule for a manufacturer to warranty things like that. Dealers do offer things like this, like BMW with DINAN kits, but it is up to the dealer, of course they charge a premium and the other catch is you have to take it to the dealer that did the work or try and find another DINAN dealer.
Only time will tell when NISMO is actually in the dealers.

Re: NISMO Twin Turbo! Confirmed!

the 350Z will get a factory turbocharger next year, check out the new MOTORTREND(with the 05 Mustang on the cover). Whether the G35 coupe will get it also is unknown... but im sure it wouldnt be hard to add it to this vs the 350Z

Re: NISMO Twin Turbo! Confirmed!

Thought we were talking about a NISMO aftermarket turbo system, installed by dealer or do-it-yourselfers?
If and when Nissan offeres a factory turbo system, it is obviously going to be covered under warranty. Just hope they don't start again where they price themselves out of the market. One of the main reasons the "Gs" are doing so well in sales right now is "Bang for the Buck". But who wants a $50k "G"?

Re: NISMO Twin Turbo! Confirmed!

yeah i agree merlin, i hope they dont overprice it, we'd be better off installing NOS since its gotten cheaper over the years and doesnt put constant day after day stress on the engine/trans

Re: NISMO Twin Turbo! Confirmed!

Don't get me wrong. I love power as much as the other guy. Have installed and used Turbos, NOS etc. in my cars and other toys for years. A well designed system these days should not be over priced. Just hope NISMO realizes that, they did with the "G".
