Fuel capacity?
Re: Fuel capacity?
16 gals.?
That is odd. Are you sure that the gas pump is not just clicking off too early?? Many of us have had that occur on these cars when trying to fill up - gas pump keeps shutting off.
I have also noticed that my gas gauge if off. It will read 1/4 of a tank left, but will only require 10 gal. to fill back-up. This could be your problem also.

Re: Fuel capacity?
I recently had a problem with our Sequoia where the gauge wasn't going all the way up. The guy at the dealer said if you squeeze the knozzle to fuel real fast, sometimes the gasses in the tank won't let the car fill up completely. I started not locking the knozzle on the fastest position and that took care of it. This car might even be more sensitive than the Sequoia.
Re: Fuel capacity?
I thought that there was about 18.5 gallons on the tank. Everytime the fuel light comes on, I check the nav to estimate about how many gallons I have left and refuel and it adds up to 18.5.

Re: Fuel capacity?
I've filled up from empty with 75 liters!
That left 1 liter left in the tank. (that's about 1/4 of your gallons).
I know my tank has a capacity of 20 gallons U.S. minimum.
What all that means is that in my car the gas gauge is so inaccurate that when it says empty (E) it still has 1/4 tank. I also have navi, that shows 'dte' (distance to empty)-- when it shows **** (no distance to empty) in fact I can go about 60 miles more.
BTW- I wouldn't expect that you could go as far on a tank of fuel just because mine will. Not all coupes will be able to burn all the fuel in the tank b4 refueling is needed.
When I ran that low on fuel, I had a small can of gas (2 gallons) in the trunk in case I misjudged.
The prudent thing to do would be that when the gauge says 'E' , fill it up. lol

Yea, it's probably a gauge reading error, built in on purpose (or just tolerated) by mfg. to be extra safe.

Re: Fuel capacity?
You are probably correct about erring on the safe side....You should remember it is to the manufacturer's advantage to have you fill up before it is empty rather than the free roadside assitance program to bring you fuel.......
I have never put more than 17 gallons of gas in my car---and that was when the light first came on....
One of these days I will load up a five gallon container of fuel and go on a road trip to empty the freaking thing out completely so I will know how much further I can travel before it really is empty.

Re: Fuel capacity?
It is 20 gallons. Trust me. I filled up 19.7 gallons in the g35 6mt before. The dealership receives all of t heir cars with pretty much no gas - enough for maybe 20 miles. With cars being PDIed and transfered between lots, you can easily hit those 20 miles pretty quick. I went to fill up gas one time and the g35c died on me about a block away. I coasted into the gas station and filled up 19.7 gallons. Trust me, its possible. BTW, the gas guage was around 1cm PAST the last mark. So if you hit the last mark, you can still go a long ways.
Re: Fuel capacity?
Thanks below and stup. Good to know in case we get in trouble for gas (or just lazy). Below, if you do make that fuel cap run, be sure to post it here; I'll drive a bit past E next time and see how much I can pump in.
This means that when my fuel light comes on, I have over three gallons left.
