I think FL drivers have a little different view on this one - many of our highways are in really good shape, smooth (no cold weather damage), with long straightaways. We have two extremes here: the young Floridians who drive fast as all hell and then the old b*stards from everywhere else who cant go over 55 and sit in the passing lane
"Normal" highway cruising speeds are 80-90 with traffic (you wont pass many people at those speeds), and I regularly hit speeds of 120-145 on trips when the roads are open. If the roads are open and nobody else is at risk, to each his own.

Hey Racer you sure about that? I think somebody told me that they got arrested by the FHP for going above 100mph.

I've taken my 95 Maxima SE up to 140mph once, can't hold a candle to how the G feels at high speeds though.

Dudes of the G35 - I pray that this article does not get noticed by any actuaries that may raise our insurance rates. Maybe I missed it, but wish the article specified coupe or sedan, modified or stock, drunk or sober, girl's panties wet or dry, cop's underwear wet or dry
with a $1200 revenue take I suspect that the cop wet himself twice – on the witness stand and the night of the incident.
I've driven this stretch before in various rentals. It's a fun smooth winding road - but dark and tight with plenty of trees along the road side waiting to wrap their arms around you if you miss a step - and I don’t recall ever going over 70 or 80.
Glad our G35 comrade is in one piece – but he did take a huge risk. Perhaps to him it was a calculated risk with minimal consequences and perhaps he was very familiar with the road – who knows. The fact still remains though that US driving laws are dated. We copied the interstate from Hitler – why didn’t we also copy his user’s manual too?
Thoughts?

I dont know what GW Memorial Parkway looks like or how much traffic was out there or is that a place where sometimes ppl walk
all this would be a factor into exactly how dangeruous of a thing he did
so i wont comment on that
but I will say this, back in 97 I had a 94 Q45 & it was a beast once I did 155 on NJ Turnpike with ease (fastest i ever went in a automatic)
about '99 I was racing my boys SH prelude & did the dash on my 6spd typeII Legend Coupe the needle couldnt go any further than 160.
I crashed & totalled that same legend a year later doing about 40mph on Rt1 in Elizabeth.
my point ...its not about how fast u goin...its driving conditions, car's performance, how alert u are & how many idiots drivers are on the road!!!
