Model: 2008 G35 Journey AT 2WD Black Obsidian/Graphite/Washi aluminum
Packages/Options: Premium (includes iPod connector), Nav (includes rear view camera), 18" rims, cargo net, splash guards
MSRP including destination = 38,025
Purchase price = 35,708
Amount below MSRP = $2,317 ($1,000 over invoice)
Total OTD w/ 8.25% CA tax, registration and $55 doc fee = $38,713.45
Purchased on 9/22/07 from Santa Monica Infiniti.
Really wanted the Sport pkg, but the sport seats felt like torture on my thighs no matter how I had them set. Played w/ the sport seats for an hr and finally just gave up and bought the Journey.
Otherwise, I LOVE this car! My 2nd favorite car behind my 1991 300ZX TT.

I've been quoted $36,800 on a 2008 Journey with Sport, Nav and Premium. I think that works out to about $1,000 over invoice (there may have been trunk mats, cargo net or other miscellaneous items included). The quote was the dealer's initial offer (internet pricing). Doesn't seem too bad, but I think there is room to negotiate still. I live in SoCal.
Also, I should clarify that this figure included the desitnation charge. I have no idea, however, whether the dealer would tack on extra charges as part of the documentation (e.g. document fees, etc.). Our discussion was informal and preliminary.

Would the deal worked out on a trade-in and the amount financed (as well as the rate) affect the end price of the car in addition to location?
I know in Kansas City I'm kind of getting hosed because there is no other dealer within 200 miles. But i'm also not trading a car in and paying cash... so there's no 'back end' to make any money off me. Granted they don't know i'm not financing yet, but they were aware I had no trade-in.
Just thinking of other reasons people may have gotten more impressive sounding deals than others.... If you get low-balled by $3k on your trade-in, they'll be more likely to take an extra $700 off the MSRP of the new car... same as if you finance a huge chunk of the car at a lucrative rate.

Ah yes i did talk to my dealer about the VPP program and he told me something to the affect that VPP usually applies after the car has been out for a while like if i approached him after march or april for an 08 G then it cud be worked out. Secondly, i heard about the VPP program in late august and i signed the deal for my G in early july so that probably took into affect also.
The dealer that I went to is Infiniti of Lisle in Lisle, Illinois--good luck to anyone that goes out for an Infiniti!!!
