awd times in rear wheel drive mode
awd times in rear wheel drive mode
anyone ever run their "x" with the AWD fuse pulled out?
with the fuse pulled ,the car is in rear wheel drive mode;would it be faster then a regular RWD sedan since it has the lower gearing?

I seriously doubt the gearing would make up for the added weight. But that's an uneducated opinion.
And (x owner chime in here please), the diff is only transferring power to the fronts at up to something like 30mph, right?

I think it's time for a X only forum. This topic has been covered quite a bit-Should be almost sticky. The X comes with different gearing compared to the RWD Auto G-
Gear Ratios
RWD AUTO :3.357
RWD 6-speed:3.538
X: 3.538
Thus they were able to retain some of the quickness off the line.
Under let's say 70, the X is pretty quick. Maybe quicker than the RWD Auto model. Not sure how much wheel spin you'd run into with the AWD chip pulled. If you were on a sticky strip, and got a good launch, you might be able to get a pretty quick pass.
Get it on the freeway, and my experience has suggested that a stock RWD auto will leave it for dead, especially past the century mark. Mind you that's just seat of the pants and from watching the speedo.
Now when you put a couple of people in there, the X's quickness goes away pretty quickly (pun intended), relative to the RWD model and the extra weight is really felt.
The X really needs a 6-speed auto or manual. That would cover up a lot of the negatives that the extra weight brings to the table.

X is only like 200lbs heavier then a RWD. i was hoping the xtra gearing should make up for it. would i be able to SAFELY dyno the X on a RWD dyno? there arent any AWD dynos around my neck of the woods.

I don't believe so. I have a feeling that the clutchpacks might have failed since I was able to get it into momentarily after the tranny cooled down a bit. Check out my350z.com for 5AT 350zs.
