Climate Control - Regular vs Econ Setting

I couldn't find this mentioned by doing a search....

Could someone explain the difference between the "normal" Auto setting and the "Econ" Auto setting? I read the manual but it didn't say too much on it. One point of confusion for me is that when I am in the car on a hot day and I have the regular auto setting on 60 degrees, after the car feels like an icebox it does not kick the fan down to a lower setting, so I have to manually raise the temperature to get the fan speed down, or I have to put the climate control into manual mode and decrease the fan speed myself.

Thanks.

If the setting is at 60F( I'm in Canada= 18C)its at its lowest set point.
In auto mode the fan will not kick down at this temp. You have to raise the temperature setting and you will see the the fan speed decrease.

Remember in your house, if you have A/C, you do not run the temp at its lowest setting . You will be freezing you gonads off!!!

Hope this helps out.

i didnt notice he was running at 60... I keep mine around 75 or so and as you stated if I increase the temp by 1* degree or so it does kick the fan down.

I don't know about other years but I have an 03.5 and whenever I turn on the climate control, it always goes to outside air regardless of the last settnig it was on before I turned it off. Once set, it will stay that way until I turn it off again.

I also hate the fact that it defaults to the fresh air option. There a stretch of road on the highway that smells like a landfill (I think there is one right by the road), and whenever I can smell it in the car I get ripped that it wasn't set to recirculate.

yeah mine does that too but it will change itself when ever it pleases and I can't figure out why.

I have to drive by a water treatment facility and often get caught with it one fresh, rather not so fresh, setting. WHOA!

I believe that you can only recirculate the air if 1) your AC is on or 2) Defrost is on.....is this why you're goes back to "fresh air"? Are you turning your AC off?

no sir. I'll have the a/c going riding down the hwy and every so often it just switches over to fresh. I have tried auto manual and dbl chcked to make sure i wasnt just going nuts.

for the moment it is simply an inconvinence but I hope it does not progress into something more probelmatic. It is hard to tell when it is goping to happen so I havent bothere going to the dealer about it.

thnaks
