The clock finisher does reflect a little bit on the windshield but it doesen't effect my driving, if your dash is really clean other parts of it will reflect a bit too. The painting does make the reflection a little more noticeable but it has
never bothered me.
To remove it grab it in each corner and pull up and back, it will pop out of the clips and then you have to disconnect two wiring harnesses one goes to the clock and one goes to the alarm light. I think that guide I linked you to actually has something on removing the clock finisher.

how hard is it to remove the peices of plastic that surround the lock/window controls on the doors? it looks like you can just pry them off????
i am thinking of removing them and to paint them the same color as the center console....
