When I bought my unrevised springs I got the whole set up with the shocks too. They are on my car now. What are these so called issues with the unrevised shocks? My car feels fine, in fact, it feels pretty much the same as before I added these. My car came with sport tuned suspension. Don't know if that makes any difference but though I would throw it in.

Thanks.

TunerDad,

I don't know much about it other than what I have read. Supposedly they had some serious bouncing/porposing issues and were the main reason that the Z suspension was revised. If you run a search for Gsedan35's posts he discusses them.

Most of what I read actually come from my350z.com. If you aren't having any problems then I wouldn't worry about it. I don't think there was a recall or anything, just a bunch of people complaining about it a lot. I believe Nissan changed the valving (or something) in the shocks to correct the issue.

Nice Avatar!

Jamey.

JameyB:

I am looking at buying coupe sport springs off a 2006. Is the spring rate on this year car the same as on Sedan (342)?

If they are coupe sports springs then no, they have the higher rate of 427 (check to see if the car has 19" wheels, 19" wheels = 427 rear spring rate).

The springs Iam looking at getting are off 2004 with 18" wheels. the seller sadi he did get the sports package. Please let me know if the spring rates on the 2004 are the same as on my 2006 sedan w/sport package. I am guessing its the same since it doesn't have 19" wheels from the factory.

According to this post, only coupes with 19s have the rear spring rate of 427. You could PM Gsedan35 if you wanted to double check.

2003 to 2004 sport springs off a coupe have the same setting as G35 sedan sport springs (342). The springs should have three red dots on the rear springs.

2005 to 2006 sport springs off a coupe have the higher spring rate (427). They should have two red dots and a purple dot, which is the same as revised 350z springs.

Brought back from the dead

Jamey B, did the suspension settle any more over time. If so, do you have any pics. I still haven't lowered and am considering stock z springs or z h-techs.

Not really, the measurements were taken at least a week after installation and that is pretty much where everything ended up.

So your first post was relating to 350Z vs coupe rear springs... as I understand it you prefer the coupe rear due to the slightly less drop... have/did you notice any difference in the handling?... I'm considering unrevised 350Z springs all around on my 04.5 non-sport sedan - interested to know if there is a trade off with the coupe rear springs look vs performance of Z springs.

BTW, for those that advise searching Gsedan35’s post - I will… just wanted to know the response from this thread… thanks

No, there is no difference in performance. The spring rates of the coupe springs I have are the same as both the stock sedan sports springs and z springs I had. The ride is pretty much exactly the same as stock (that's the way I wanted it).

If you went with a revised Z spring setup (including shocks/struts) you probably would see better handling with a stiffer ride as compared to the sedan sports suspension. However, even with the revised setup both the z and coupe springs have the same spring rate so I assume there would be no difference other than the amount of drop.
