should this be covered under 4 yr warranty ?

dropped off the car this morning - Something has been "loose" inside the front driver side door panel. There is also a clicking noise when I roll the window up/down...

Dealer called back and said some window regular/motor bolt is loose. They said this is only covered during the 1st year (adjustment). They're charging me $60 for this.

Shouldn't this be covered under 4 yr warranty ?

thanks

talk to neal376 he adjusts his bolt all the time. it depends on the dealership if they want to cover it under warranty or not

over the phone the service manager said they're charging me.
When i got there and picked up the car, he said "everything is taken care of" and no charge...

I guess I'm not complaining anymore....

In addition to this window motor thing, I got the "fuel hose recall" done, got new front/back pad, resurfaced rotors (i think i might have gotten new rotors because they look "thicker" than the original).

id be pissed if they charged me... takes them a mintue to pop off door apnel and another second to tighten/rebolt the screw that holds the window to the alternator arms for the power windows. there shouldnt be anything else in that door to rattle

On my way to pick up the car, i was kinda pissed too (thinking they were going to charge me $60 to tighten bolts).

My understanding is - Almost all rattles in the car are covered under 4 yr warranty. Even if the window regulator blew, it's covered. Then why tightening the regulator bolts are NOT covered ??

When asked on the phone if I wanted to go ahead and have them tighten the bolts for $60, I first "declined". And i was then told they would have to charge me $$ for unmounting/mounting the panel. So I was kinda left with no choices but said okay to fix it for $60.

That got me thinking --- is time for "diagnosing" a problem covered under 4 yr warranty ??

normally rattles aren't a 4yr deal. like stated earlier, 12k miles or 1 yr adjustment period... but... it almost sounds like something else was wrong.

i brought my g to raleigh (after a rough history) for a rattling under the hood that i couldn't narrow down. they ended up tightening my belts (normally a charge), refastened my fan shroud (that my garage that put on my ur crank pulley didn't fasten properly) - this was one of my sounds, and found a blown cat (crawford), which was caused by an improperly installed o2 sensor (same installer), and then they fixed the o2 sensor.

they did all of this for free... and could've charged me for any of it. it all depends on the mood and personality of the dealer and/or tech.

At times I've noticed a rattle (under seat, back rear wheel, sounds can be hard to track sometimes

Gone away again. Have never brought it up.

I'm more interested in the occasional TPM light coming on occasionally when driving at highway speeds (but no audible alarm), when the tires are at or near 30psi. The dealership wasn't able to do anything.

I wonder if a sensor might be getting marginal.

your gonna pay 60bucks, they are gonna fix it, and it will come loose again

make sure that 60 bucks means that they will fix it permanently

I know on my '04, they fixed a couple of minor rattles months after the car was a year old, fixing rattles is not an adjustment, it's are part of the bumper to bumper warranty.

Bumper to Bumper means just that.
You should not be paying for anything that is not a wear item.
And window regulator bolts are not wear items.

does is sound like a spring-ey like noise after you start driving from a stop after you start your car?

If so, that it is. Every car has this noise, its just that on the G, it is abnormaly loud

dealer tried to tell me by rattle at startup was abs adjusting itself too... it was a loose fan shroud and a blown cat. the abs only adjusts when in motion.
they shirk off a lot of 'my car rattles upon startup' complaints with that also.
very frustrating.
