Check Engine light after mod'ing
Check Engine light after mod'ing
I own an 04 X
So this weekend I put on 3 things.
1. Stillen Gen 1 Exaust
2. Weapon R Intake
3. Motordyne Plenum Spacer 5/16 Copper
After I put it all on, I didnt notice TOO much of a change in power (Gen 1 Drone is Horrible). I was thinking to reset the ECU?
This morning I started my car had the check Engine light on and the VDC was off (usually defaults to on after I turn the car off) and thier was one more light on I am forgetting off hand.
I'm not sure where to go from here. Any Ideas ?
Thanks

the 3rd light that was on was the "Slip" light. (so VDC/Slip and check engine)
after the 2nd start the car is running (check engine light still on) fine.
The car will start and rev fine now.
I did unplug the MAF during the install but it is currently pluged in and part of my CAI. is this wrong?
I will take it to autozone for a code reading BUT isnt their a "common code" and/or reason why the Check Engine light comes on after installing this stuff?
*one more thing, is this not enough upgrades to reset the ECU or will the ECU make adjustments accordingly?
Thanks

Reset the ECU, and see if it comes back.
If it does, it might be that you have a leak somewhere...maybe didn't tighten something down all the way, maybe a hose came loose.
SLIP light isn't related to your mods, so I would ignore it for now.

check to see if you forgot to reconnect the plug for the vacuum evac ctrl at the center rear of the engine.
The plug can get lost when you first unplug it...
Code is something like pa444 oro 4xx.

So a reset, and see what happens. It will reset all the lights and hopefully they won't return.

reset with pedal method, and if SES light it still on, drive for 50-100 miles and it should go away, if not, check all connections. and repeat. Mods wont throw the SES light on except in the beginning, so the weapon R intake wouldn't be the main cause.
