Tranny Swap?

Ahhh, you guys are no fun.
When I was a kid me and my friends used to swap engines trannys etc. all the time. Of course the chevy's only had a couple bolts and a few wires but still...
If you read my other posts you'll see the $ really isn't too bad. I can use almost all Z parts and there are plenty of crashed ones around, I've found a 10,000 mile tranny for $650 and I can sell the AT for that probably more like $800 or $900. Just need to find a donor for the other parts and I'm good.

People need to realize that since you're not operating a clutch, pedal, and shifter, the MM downshift is going to feel longer. In actuality, the MM downshift is probably quicker 90% of the time compared to the average performance-focused driver especially during around the town flogging.
As for this swap, there is so much more stuff that you're not accounting for. The ECU is totally different in the 5AT because it's wired to the TCU. Also from there, the stability control and traction control are programmed for the 5AT. Then there's the pedal assemblies, console, clutch/starter switch wired to the ECU, and transmission cross member to name a few. Save yourself the time, money, headaches, and resale and just sell the car and get a 6MT.
