High Idle problem

I cleaned my throttle body and my car now idles at 1000rpm. i reset ecu using the (key on w/ gas pedal push 5sec method) but i still have the problem. when i drive and engage the clutch or put into nuetral the rpm bounces up to around 1500 then drops to 1000. this is very frustating driving under these conditions. can i make adjustments to the idle myself or is it solely controlled by the ecu. 2003.5 sedan 6mt

Sounds to me like you disconnected the TB during the cleaning. If so, you need to do the throttle-by relearn procedure. Resetting the ECU won't help in this case.

I also asked if he did this.

The only way to adjust the TB is with a Consult tool that the dealer has. I would bet the TB learn procedure will fix it.

Did you disconnect the thing or not? I believe there are some OBDII scanners that can perform this idle learn procedure but in your case, it might as well be a dealer only thing.

Along with a basic reset of the ECU, there are several other resets to do:

1) Accelerator Pedal Release Position Learning

2) Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning

3) Idle Air Volume Learning (Throttle Position Learning)

You can read about the procedures here in our FAQ/DIY forum, and scroll down to MERLIN's post.

VARIOUS ECU RESETS

G/L with the effort.
