Moving from Texas to Florida. How should I move my G?

In a few weeks, I'll be moving from Dallas, TX to central Florida. I'm trying to figure out what the best way to move my G will be. Here are the three most obvious options:

1) I'm renting a UHaul, so I might just get a "car carrier" and tow my car behind the truck (the car carrier is a trailor, so I wouldn't be "dragging" my car).
2) Pay to have it shipped.
3) Fly a friend to Dallas and have him drive it back for me when I move.

And here are the pros and cons of each:

1) This seems like a good option, but I'm not sure how safe it will be for my car. It's pretty cheap ($200), so that's a plus.
2) This would be pretty easy for me, but also pretty expensive. I understand it would cost at least $800, maybe more.
3) This would be pretty cheap (I can get a one-way ticket for under $100), but it would add 1K miles to my car and I'd have to let someone else drive it (not that big a deal to me).

Do any of you have any experience with this kind of thing? Which option do you think is best? I'm leaning to 1) because it seems easiest, but I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks everyone!

Josh

My friend runs an auto transport company here in South Florida, PM me with your info if you are interested in that option.

Ok what's wrong with putting 1K miles on your car? I can understand letting someone drive it for that long. I've got a 04 that only has 14K which I drove fron SC to TX and back to SC last Dec (love the road trip) This Dec when I head back to the States I will be driving from SC to TX again.
Sounds like you're really concerned about putting miles on the car.
Anyway the best option based on provided info is the UHAUL. No harm done with the full trailer method. Just slow driving as recommended by U-HAUL

I'm honestly not concerned about the 1K miles, but I still consider it a con to driving it... I mean, if I can avoid putting 1K on there for no reason, why not? But the mileage on my car is pretty low... I'm under 19K and I have an 05 AT.

Thanks to all for your replies. I appreciate your input!

Guy next door to me many years ago had a TR-6. He got the biggest U-haul truck he could find and then loaded the car inside. Then he packed as much stuff as he could in and around the car. Anything that was left, he sold in a garage sale.

for #3 you did include the price of gas in your calculation.

I choose #1

I'd go with the car carrier. The car is in your hands.

But I think it would cost you more than $100 on gas and wear and tear driving 1000 miles. I'd go with #1.

^^ +1
When I read that, I had the same thought ... gas at these prices would be significant
1k @about 23mpg @2.80/gal (low avg ?) == $122 !
