2003.5 6mt - Lsd?
was it an option? I mean, the car has the aero package and every option asside from navigation, would it be safe to assume that it
a) has an LSD
or
b) does not come with an LSD
and if b is the answer, are there LSD kits out there? Do I really need to look into it or will everything be ok?
thanks for the response dave!

The LSD option first became available for the 6MT sedans in the 2004 MY. So no the 2003 6MT will not have it. You could swap in an OEM VLSD but the cost/benefit ratio just isn't worth it unless you get everything done for nearly free. There are plenty of aftermarket LSDs out there but it all depends on what you want. IMHO the Quaife would be your best bet since it drops right into your open differential. It's also the street friendliest since it is quite in operation, almost seemless in transition when locking up, and doesn't require schedulded rebuilds. If your goal is more for the track I've heard many good things about the ATS Carbon Diff since it has all the benefits of a clutch type diff but doesn't come with all the negatives either.

LSD was a term Timothy O'Leary used for D-Lysergic Acid. It was an hallucinogenic drug. There were all sorts of stories of people who thought they could fly while tripping and plummeted to their deaths.
Actually Limited Slip Differential has been around for a long time. When I was a kid waaaaaaaaaaay back in the 50's and 60's we called it Positraction or Posi for short. You could always tell the guy who had Posi because he left two black stripes on the pavement as compared to a "one-wheeled wonder".
The Quaife is supposed to be one of the best. If I had a manual transmission car that had FI, I would probably look into it. I have an 03.5 automatic, so it would be a waste of time to purchase it. I really don't think you would see much of an effect on a purely stock car.
