Idle speed

Hi,

I have new 2006 G35 6MT. Love it so far far. One question:
What is the normal idle speed? I only have 1000 miles on the
car. When I first got it it idled around 1000 rpms or so.
Now it idles around 2000. Did it go up because it's getting colder outside?

Thanks,
Rob

2000 is way too high if the car is warmed up. I had the dealer raise mine up to 850 when I put in the UR flywheel. It was between 600-700 before.

do u have an AT or MT? 2000 is crazy high! after completely cooling then starting my idle jumps to 1500 or so and within a few minutes ends up sitting right around 850....i also had to have my idle bumped up a bit

It only idles at 2000 when the engine is cold.
It starts dropping down pretty pretty quickly...

Your hot idle shouldn't be more than about 7-800 rpm. If it's higher, there is a problem. See the dealer.

Cold idle will vary depending on ambient temp, and isn't so important.

If it's cold and then goes down quickly it might be ok. Do an ECU reset and see if it changes anything.
