racing-auto vs manumatic

i was wondering which is better for racing people with...leaving it in auto, or shifting it over to manumatic and shifting from there?

Depends on how good you are with the manual shift mode...That's basically what good racing comes down to, proper shifting technique, as far as relatively equal cars and drivers...

Re: racing-auto vs manumatic

the only real benefit with being able to shift through the gears or HOLD a gear with an auto, is that you can better control your car in the canyons and use the motor to slow your car down.

from a drag-racing perspective, it really makes no difference.. you want to be able to dump clutch and launch the car. with out a high stall torque converter, you are just wasting your time.. because stock automatics are not designed for launching.

build your auto if you want to drag race. use the manual shifting auto if you want to better control your car in the turns, etc. get a 5-speed if you are serious about being able to control your car.
