clunk after startup and driveoff

I have a 03.5 5AT with 50K on it. I just bought this G and love it. However I hear and feel a small clunk after I've start to drive off imeediatley after startup. I don't hear it again during stop/go driving. Only immediately after the frist drive off. It almost feels like a small shifting motion under the front of the car.
Anyone have any info? I've tried serching and found clunking sounds from the rear but this seems different.

If it only happens right after you drive away after start up then it's the ABS self check. Dont worry about it, it's normal.

Funny,in the last couple of weeks I've experienced the same thing. Is it cold where you are,it is here.Have you checked your oil?I've lost a bit I'm sure.I've already told the dealer I want to be present when they drain oil at next service. If it's down even a quart, they owe me an engine!!!
But still love my G.

Listen and see if it happens the first time you hit 10 mph after starting the car. If it does, then it is just the ABS self check.

I have an 04 coupe and same thing happens. To me, it almost sounds like a piece of metal scraping against something very lightly or something. Happens in the same situation - fist drive off after start up.

It's hardly ever below 50 here in southern california so no. My oil is always full, i'm a mechanic so i check it pretty often, especially since my friends 06 G coupe is eating 2 quarts of oil every 1000 miles.

I have an 06 with under 1000 miles and I thought I had heard something like that a few times. Glad to know that it's just an ABS check. Thanks guys.

Is your car and auto or manual? Make sure you check your oil often since you have an 06 and they are known for eating oil.

06 Auto (the wife wouldn't let me get the Manual ), Oil level is good and looks clean. Just like the other guy said, it only happens right after the first pull off after starting the car. It's such a faint sound that I thought I was trippin'.

Oh, and thanks for the heads up with the OIL issue. I normally check my oil level every other fill up. Tires, brake fluid, ect. Just a habit that formed some time ago. It irritates people waiting for the pump, lol.

Cool. Yeah it's only ofter the initial driveoff at about 10 MPH, with the automatic. It doesn't seem like it's hurting the car, just wanted to check on it. I'm glad others have diagnosed this as the ABS check, makes sense. Thanks for all the info
