YOU HAVE TO BE 21 TO GET A RENTAL CAR FROM INFINITI?!?!?!?!?! WTF! (excuse my language)

Im 20, purchased my car on my own.. and I cant get the temporary car when I take my car into service.. I guess I can have my father get the car for me but its a bit childish.

any ideas on how I can get the tempoary car myself? Any help would be appreciated....

It's all about Insurance! Pretty crazy if you ask me. I would complain tot the Mgr and explain that even though your under 21, you had no problem taking my 35K Bitch, Moan and whine until they give in. Certainly they can accomodate 1 customer.

and what would happen if he did get into an accident and the insurance refuses to pay for the damages? I'm not saying it's fair but a lot of times the dealerships aren't the ones making the rules.

That's true man, but you want to find out if the dealership is making the rule or the Insurance Co.-----If it's the dealership then they may bend a little. If it's the Insurance then they won't. As EdRedS implies, You wouldn't want to drive one and find you're not covered!.
Pestilence: If you still can't get anywhere with them, then talk to your insurance agent and explain it to him. He may say that your policy covers you in that instance......Just a thought...............

I guess it is an insuracne thing, but its just silly how I can own a car, and not be able to use my benefits (which the dealer told me I had) because of my age.

Ya that's the thing...I have friends that went down to the US and wanted to drive from San Jose to Las Vegas but the car rental company wouldn't rent to them at first b/c the oldest was only 23...then they allowed it but increased the rate 50% to "cover the risk". There were 2 engineers and one stock broker.

It's purely about numbers. The highest accident groups are single male drivers 16-20, and 21-25. It's not about you, it's about the risk category you belong to. Insurance companies and rental car agencies are businesses, and they want to make a profit. There's not much profit in having your rental fleet wrecked by your customers (or in paying out more in claims than you receive in premiums). It's the way the game is played.

BTW, I just discovered that warranty repairs have to be longer than 2 hours labor for them to give you a loaner. My CD player jammed, it's taken them two weeks to get a replacement in, and I have to use the courtesy shuttle instead of getting a loaner. (I called my salesman and complained, and they can get me a loaner, but not until Saturday.. at which point it's moot. The dealership is on my way to work. I don't work on Saturday, I don't want to mess with repairs on Saturday, and I want my CD player fixed NOW.)

Hey Pest, have your dealership compensate or reimburse you for the a car rental. It would be in their best interest since other people over 21 enjoy the benefits of "Total Ownership". That sucks and your dealership should understand that. I say have a nice talk with the GM.
