Clicking sound from the brake pedal

I've just past the 5,000 kilometer mark and apart from the driver seat rocking a little the car runs just fine. Recently I noticed a clicking sound from the brake pedal when the car was in park. No sound when thre car is running. I think it may be linked to the transmission lock, but am not sure. Has anyone experienced the same thing?

Re: Clicking sound from the brake pedal

I have that sound too when I first started my engineer every morning to work. I brought my car to the dealer for a checkup and they told me the sound is from the routine ABS self check up. I don't know if it 's true but this is what the technician said.
hope this could help those who have the same problem.

Re: Clicking sound from the brake pedal

The ABS self-check happens once after you turn on the car and get up to a certain speed (7 mph, I think). It can sound like a click or a thunk, and you may feel it through the pedal. But it only happens once each time you turn on your engine. If you have some clicking noise that's repetitive while driving, then it's not the ABS self-check.

Re: Clicking sound from the brake pedal

Just wanted to clarify that the sound occurs only while in park. No sound while in reverse or drive, and the engine must be on. I've never noticed it before, and it is somewhat distracting. I'll be going to the dealer for my first oil change and I'll see what they say, but if anyone has any other possible reasons for the cliking sound please let me know.

I get the same sound in my g20. Always assumed it was the transmission lock as well. (keeps the driver from putting the car in gear from park without the brake pedal being pressed)

Re: Clicking sound from the brake pedal

max it is the transmission lock like everyone says. nissans and infinitis always had this clicking. Again like they said it only happens in park cause that is the only gear that locks the button. if you wanted u could hold the button in any other gear and change it such as moving from drive to reverse while driving without pressing the brake (don't suggest u try this). But i'm def sure cause i own a g35,300zx tt and a maxima. all have the same clicking (except for my tt of course). It's just that nissan and infiniti make the clicking more obvious. hope this helps settle your nerves.
