I just got my drivers side battery cover from Chad and it seems that these are not a drop in mod and would like to know if anyone has a quick how to for installing this.

well I found a pic and I guess that it isn't as clean of an install as i thought it would be.

Haha, I just got mine today as well and asked the same questions. I think I'm going to just start trimming away with the dremel until it fits.

Hahaha. Well I am in good company then. My dremel is in storage and wouldn't think of trying to find it again till I move.

Well if you get a good cut maybe you can trace out on cardboard for me to copy later. I'll drive down to pickup the template and buy you lunch.

You can use a utility knife to trim the plastic, its very soft. I trimmed the whole flange outside the brake cylinder compartment, leaving the vertical flange. Then slip the rubber moulding over both the metal & plastic flange of the RHD cover.
Sorry, no pics but its easier then it sounds. And if you want to get fresh, I trimmed a little bit of the inside corner so I can use the hole to secure that corner with the clip supply.

^-- Yeah that sounds about right, I had some free time today so I started cutting away. No template needed really I just started trimming everying outside the vertical flange (like Grumpy_G stated) on the bottom of the cover. I test fitted and then trimmed some more where needed. I didnt have the right bit i needed with the dremel (that I borrowed) so I just cut it with some sheet metal cutters and then used a grinder to sand it as smooth as I could. It wasnt a perfect fit, but then again I only spent 30 minutes on it. I plan to smooth out the edges a bit more next weekend.

that was a damn mess. don't feel good about having a chopped up piece of plastic in my car. what did you guys do about the back two mounting holes? did anyone drill the two holes and insert that white plastic mount?

For the 2 out of the 3 in the back I just stuck them in the hole and will be fabbing up a bracket for it later. As far as the white clip that goes by the a/c lines I only drilled one hole for the upper nub and shaved off the lower one. I didn't want to take a chance in drilling into my a/c lines.

I was going to get this cover, but after reading this...I decline. I need a drop in no mod cover....so I guess I won't be cool under the hood.

for real! i even managed to trim mine on my own with a jig saw

ehh what the heck I'll give it a go this weekend. Sounds more like a time consuming matter than technical one.

Just installed mine. Dremeled the unnecessary plastic and popped it in. Only held on by one clip and the molding. Another day I'll figure out a way to mount the other clips somewhere.
