Let's see, guys from an Infiniti forum want to get rid of Chris? Makes you sort of wonder about the motivation?? Look at what BMW has done, sales wise, since Chris came in!
I'll bet "the family" likes him

I liked all the old bimmers. The E46 and especially the E39 5 series. But let's face it, the cars were plain. You can use the word understated but I'll call it like I see it...they were plain. They cost too much to be plain. Bangle changed all that. I love the new designs. Apparently, so does most everyone else. The BMW's are selling well and here's the most telling thing.....other car makers are copying the designs. That's when you know you have got something good going.

Chris Bangle's legacy: The man who freshened up BMW
Chris Bangle's reign as BMW's top designer is over. But, as he tells Nargess Shahmanesh-Banks, the aesthetic revolution has just begun
....So if history turns out to be a predictor of the future then the phase we are entering now is the phase of refinement," he says. Bangle's replacement, Adrian van Hooydonk, and his team are working hard on a new line of BMW cars to make this perfection and harmonisation happen. "We have new models coming out that we have never done before, that have to fit exactly in this line as well as being as historically correct as if they've been around for 50 years," he says.....

Sales are up at BMW since the new flame surfacing style took effect. Why would they fire him. They are the first co. to advance thier style so aggresively and they expect that old souls that loved the old style will not adapt so quickly. The style was ahead of it's time and rather visionary - like it or not...and it works. The reason for the early redesign was because the new products being added such as the 6 needed a fresher corporate face to expand from. There was no room to grow the lineup using the old look. What would the 6 (which I would avoid like the plague) look like in the old design realm? Worse! The 5 is the best looking car on the road and the design is timeless like the previous gen. Amazing that BMW took the risk they did and we all know that no public company would ever have taken such a design chance. Well done IMO
Have to agree -- I love the new styling. The previous models were clearly "BMW-esque"; but the new ones are more aggressive, more distinguished.
Wife has a 530i; and while I like it's aggressive and unique look, what I'm more impressed with is how it drives. The more aggressive, unique look of the current BMWs compared to the previous generation kind of reminds me how the new 07 G looks compared to the current model -- nothing wrong with my '05, but the new G and current M do look "meaner", which I like.

The new 3 coupe looks great in person, my friend replcaed his 03 G35 Coupe with a new 07 3 series coupe, I like it. The new 3.35 sedans look hot too, and I definitely agree with what some said about 5 being very aesthetically pleasing as well.
BMW has always been the best at matching the power of the engine to the other components on the car (brakes, wheels, etc). BMW's come stock with everything beefy, not poorly matched like some other cars that focus everything on the engine. If I had the money I would trade in my 03 sedan towards a new 3.35 sedan or a 5 series. Or maybe even a <gasp> Acura RL (let the flaming begin lol)
