It's true a lot of companies overrate their mpgs, but I just can't figure out why there are such large descrepencies in mpgs across G35s. My G35 has no problems matching and often time exceeding it's mpg rating and I really don't drive soft either. I calculate mpgs, I simply take miles driven by gallons used. Driving hard on a regular basis will definitely impact mpgs as will lot of cold engine stop and go traffic and heavy rims. I've gotten as bad as 14mpgs after driving really hard on a tank of gas and I got as bad as 12mpg when I added my Borla TD (which was removed 5 days later).

Thumbs down

most car companies actualy underrate their gas mileage so the consumer usualy gets better gas mileage.
Infinti should be sued for this crap.. That is huge misrepesentaion of gas mileage....

I had the car for one day and im already thinking about selling it. The way i drive my cars Im going to get 13 mpg and that is no way to be.
my 328is bmw that i had ,about as fast as the G35 i, when driven lightly will easily get 23-24 in the city and around 30 on highway. when driven hard will still get 18 in the city..... so wtf is with infinity? its not 350 hp engine....
a gs400 lexus will get 19 mpg in the city and around 26 highway,,,and that thing puts down 310 lb of torque and 300 hp,,,,, so WTF???

so far: a big thumbs down for G35

One day and you're thinking of selling it They have done nothing illegal. They used the POS EPA rating system which the EPA has admitted is flawed. Regardless, ALL companies use this system to rate their cars and the truth is most cars typically don't meet their ratings, especially hybrids and SUV/trucks.

As for the BMW 328 being as quick as your G, I think your butt dyno is way off because the 328 is significantly slower than a G35. A G35 auto is a solid mid 14 second ride. A 328 is a lower 15 second ride. The BMW will see better mpgs because it has a smaller engine, longer gearing, and lighter weight.

As for the GS400, my buddy has a 99 GS400 and he sees 16-17 in the city and 24 on the highway and he drive mostly like a grandma. It doesn't matter what site you're on (Acura TL, Lexus IS/GS, etc), the complaints are the same. Most people aren't happy with the mpgs.

Stop whining.

If you'd read up on the car before you bought it, you'd know that MPG is NOT a strong suit of the G. It's not a secret. On the contrary, people here gripe about it constantly.

On a cross-country trip of about 3000 miles we averaged right at 28 MPG. We've seen a lot worse. I took it into consideration before I laid my money down. It doesn't bother me. I wish it were better, but it isn't.

Still a great car.

wtf people?
first of my g35 is not that fast almost identical to my sc400 which got way better gas mileage. I just did some testing today with g-tech to confirm that,,
i got 6.38 best 0-60 and 15.02 with g-tech today,,,,,

Something must be wrong with my car maybe? I see some people in low 14s with auto?
Any ideas?

Nothing wrong with your car. Maybe you just need more practice in the G.

o and by the way on the 328 i got 6.2 0-60 and 15 flat at the track.

actualy it was not a 328 it was a 325is but i think it had the engine from a 328 because it was way faster than 325s are sopose to be.

Here's the way I look at it. If you want performance, buy a performance car. If you want gas mileage, buy a Prius.

yea.. our cars get pretty crappy mileage... i noticed a mjor difference driving below and above 3k rpms with our cars tho... at least a difference of 4 mpg... and around 80 mph our cars are above 3200 rpm... and its around 26-2700 rpm at 75 mph.. the gearing sux for mileage but good for torque i guess...
