Class Action Lawsuit: G35 front brakes failure
#31
Would any aftermarket brake rotor/pad combo do better than stock, at a cheaper price? For example, the R1 Concepts slotted/cross-drilled rotors on e-bay with maybe Hawks pads....Just wondering because it'll be time to change mine soon...Definitely not going to pay dealer-price for a brake job...

My 03's front rotors and pads lasted until 37K miles and the rear pads lasted until 42K miles. Those 20" rims on your car add a lot of additional unsprung weight and rotational mass therefore making the brakes work much harder.

Parts cost will be around $260, labor $0 as they are relatively simple to replace.
I did this on my G35 sedan with the intent of using quality replacements that would last longer than stock and not dust like stock. IMO it takes about 10% more pedal pressure to achieve a given rate of decel as compared to stock. I cannot state that brake performance is better than or worse than stock as it would take controlled conditions on a test track to figure that out. I am placing my trust in two huge brand names in brakes to have done their homework and provide me with a quality product.

That's actually not true.
I did not get it from ArizonaZcar because Arizona Kit is 13" instead of 13.6" &
the rotor in Arizona package is not Cross Drilled.
I forgot the shop where I got it from because I got it on ebay when the shop first introduced the kit, the guy put one on ebay.
If you do a search, I think there was an early post of mine that tells where I got it. I believe the his list price is 1300+change. Still a good deal.

OK, I found the link to my set up:
http://fastbrakes.com/shop/product_i...roducts_id=856
They are now priced at $1250.
It says 13.25", just a hair smaller than mine, which is 13.6".
They no longer have the 13.6" listed.
