Bad news ..Good news

Car was into the stealership today for a few things including the driver's seat lifter replacement and to complain AGAIN about the difficult time shifting from 1st to 2nd. Lo and behold..they finally agreed that the synchros were bad and that they ordered me a new tranny. All of this with 59,5XX miles. New transmission should be here within a week or so. Was very happy that they did not pull the old 'could not duplicate' trick on me once again.
Even better, I drove two 07 G35 S while I was there ..one 6MT the other 5AT. Great cars both of them. They don't have exactly what I want in stock so I am debating on ordering one.

I would wait a little while until the prices go down and there is a TT kit for them.

Yeah, the sticker of the 07s are up there. Hoping that they are willng to work a decent deal...if not my 04 will be just fine with that new transmission.
As for the TT, both my bank account and my significant other may have something to say about that. Besides, you have set the bar too high!

first that the transmission needed to be replaced. second (which I did not state) that I will need to buck up to replace the clutch while the trans is out. A replacement that will be much less costly with tranny out.
But like I said...could have been worse if the cost of replacing the transmission wasnt under warranty.

I thought replacing the tranny was good news? Especially since you got it at almost 60k miles!

guessing that ppl are checking in to see the bad news aspect...sorry for the misunderstanding.
it is bad news that it need to be replaced at all...have had many cars not needing to have tranmissions replaced with more miles on them. BUT we all know about the rep of this manual.
good news is that infiniti is standing behind their product...even in the 11th hour.

Since u drive a MT did u notice substantial difference between 07 MT and your car in terms of transmission and clutch.

When i drove the 07 MT i felt that they have improved the transmission and clutch

tranny and brakes of the 07 g feels a lot spongier and less responsive to me (took an 07 on a pretty extended test drive through the back country roads i travel that get pretty undulating in certain sections).....that's just my opinion though...

the 07 was very diff from my 04. much smoother, quieter and quicker (at least to the butt dyno.) I thought the shifter was still stiff to shift but the clutch was much lighter and easier to launch.
the one I drove was a stripped down model...no options including heated seat...but it was alot of fun to drive.

I have even noticed the 05/6 have a lighter clutch spring and a much smoother throw than my 04.
