About to install coupe Middy, easy question...

Get new OEM gaskets or reuse the old?

If getting new, I'm assuming get coupe f/r gaskets vs Sedan ones?

Personally, I would not risk a leak reusing old gaskets. Maybe if the car was brand new. Since the coupe midpipe is a straight boltup to the sedan, it will have the same flange style/dimensions and therefore the same gaskets. Nissan saves money by using the same part on multiple different vehicles.

Don't worry about it, use the same gaskets, it'll be fine.

Will the old gaskets crack or break when I'm removing the old mid? This is a 4yr old car now.

If you are using the old gaskets, make sure you use some silicone gasket maker. It's available at any parts store.

The better idea is to get new ones but you can see when the old ones come off. In most cases you can sand the old ones a little bit and re-use them.

Seeing you're from Ontario (winter driving/road salt) & your car is 4 yrs. old, I think it's worth just buying the new gaskets..they won't set you back that much. I replaced my middy with a coupe one a year ago, and at that time, my car was 1 1/2 yrs. old and mine weren't in the best of shape, but could have been reused. I have a feeling you'll have a lot of corrosion on yours.

Yup, I'm thinking the same, also thinking of paying a muffler shop break and replace all the bolts with stainless ones b4 I attempt to replace the middy myself.

Just ordered Gaskets for the middy, gaskets for the rear are different b/t the sedan and coupe, does anyone know which one I should use? I ordered the coupe gasket under the assumption that it's a coupe midpipe so it should use a coupe gasket.

The front gaskets (2) that you need, are in the shape of the joint between the Y-pipe and midpipe and is a thin piece of 2-3 layers of metal. The rear one, however, which connects to your muffler, is a round ring, made of soft/malleable metal, which deforms & fills in the gap when you tighten it, to prevent exhaust leakage.

I have no idea what the coupe rear gasket looks like.

That's great info, I think the parts guy said the coupe was flat and the sedan was a ring. Definitely save me an extra trip and some $ for parts.

Thanks!

Since they don't cost too much, I replaced both when I put the coupe mid-pipe on my sedan. My 2 cents.

while you have the exhaust off you might as well get new gaskets put on and not risk a leak
