Noise when below 30 Degress F.

I have an 06 6mt with 22k miles on it. I have noticed something lately since it finally started to get cold up here in New Hampshire. A few mornings when it is below 30 degrees, there is this very strange whining noise. It sounds almost like a pully bearing is out. Once the car warms up a bit, the noise goes away. It is really strange and I do not know where to begin to look. When the hood is open, it is very difficult to pinpoint the exact location of the noise.

It is not the ABS test either as this noise goes on long after the ABS testing noise goes away.

I wanted to check here before brining it to the dealer so that I have at least something for them to look at.

Sounds like the alternator and A/C drive belts are not tightened enough or have dried out. The belts are located as you look down between the grille and the radiator (wrapped around several pulleys and tensioners).

It is normal, it only happens when it is cold and goes away after a few miles.

It is 100% definitely the belts, you can adjust them or spray like you did but they will probably need to be tightened soon either way. There is a thread on how to adjust them or replace them somewhere on the forum if you are a DIYer. Search something like Belt Replacement.

I have the same problem. It's your tranny... when your car is moving and its in gear, even if you're just coasting with the clutch pedal down you'll hear this weird wind/howling noise. You'll notice that once you coast with it in neutral, it goes away and comes right back when you put it into any gear. My dealership told me it was the throw-out bearing and the clutch, so I had that replaced and the noise is still there. I'll chew em' out on Monday.

It is the throw-out bearing, and you can replace it until the cows come home and not get rid of the noise; it's just the way the clutch is set up. It's not caused by or creating any damage, so there's no harm in just dealing with the noise for a few miles or so until it gets warmed up. And don't spray your belts with anything, please.

When it's that cold you should try to warm your car up for a couple mins whenever possible.

What about the syncro problem i think thats what we are refering to. Im taking mine in on tuesday for the noise. The advisor i talked to on the phone told me it could be the throw out bearing to but its been getting louder the last few days so...

If replacing the throw-out bearing won't help, then how do you get rid of the noise? Replace the whole tranny? There have been a couple people on this forum that had their tranny's replaced under warranty because of this.
