I know that this has been discussed a 100 times but .... Just got a call back from the dealership and the advisor told me that they just got off the phone with infiniti and they told them to replace it. He told me it would be 3-5 days for it to came in. He had never heard of this problem befor either or so he said . Hes suppose to let me know for sure tommorrow when it will be in when the system updates in the morning.

i wonder if enough tranny's are replaced, could it be possible to use the 07 tranny? that woudl be sweet if it can be easily swapped.
The problem was the syncros. Wehn i drove down the road first thing in the morning and it was below about 35 deg. i would have a noise that sounded like wind rushing in. Once the car got warm it went away. I seem to get louder as time went on so i took it in.

Mine has similar "sounds". After warming up my car and shift to first gear, it has a short howl sound. And every shift has a metallic hiss sound. I call the dealer to make an appointment for oil change and mention this problem. She (the service advisor) said right away that it is the clutch and will cost me $3k to replace. And she said she never heard 6mt problem.... Screw her, I am going to take it to another dealership.

I have a problem at 600 miles with my 07 Sedan. The infamous 2nd gear clunk, but like you, in the morning, that first shift, IF it actually goes into gear, grinds. Unacceptable. Especially the unprofessional attitude some service managers take in regards to screwing their customers.

Does the noise sound like a low volume whistle? I have that when I first drive the car when it's still cold..Thought it was a small hole letting air rush in..But it goes away when it warms up...Strange...

its def possible that the 07 tranny is the same. . .the clutch feel though is definitely different, after i test drove one, and the shifting felt shorter/crisper.

Had my 6MT replaced at about 25K miles - no hassle from dealer, they drove it, saw that it was grinding 1st to 2nd under hard acceleration/shifting, and a minor grind 5th to 6th under any condition, and said "new tranny and clutch pack for you". (Infiniti of Pleasanton, California - a Hendrick Automotive Group dealership). Difficult shift now from 1st to 2nd when cold (especially in cold weather) and tight/notchy in all gears, but after it warms up, it shifts just fine now.Originally Posted by marksg35

I never had the high pitched "wind whistle" sound at all until my 30,000 mile service, and then I got it every time I first start off in the car, then goes away after about 5-7 miles of continuous driving and it never comes back all day. The dealership (via telephone consultation) thought it was due to the replacement of my in-cabin air filter at the service, which (being new) was letting air rush in quickly until the air in the ventilation system equalized with the exterior air pressure. Made sense, but now you've got me thinking...

Well mine only did it at about 35 degress or less if it was above that i didnt hear it.
