You can use Castrol Multi Vehicle ATF it meets the full J-matic spec. It's also slightly cheaper but not by much.

I think I'm going to go with the Amsoil atf fully synthetic. Any one know how much diff fluid the g35 sedan takes?

Guys, READ THE FSM!! The Infiniti specified procedure for servicing the 5AT does NOT call for flushing it out completely. For my 2004, the specs and procedure are:

-- Drain A/T fluid from drain plug and refill with new A/T fluid. Always refill same volume with drained fluid.

To replace the A/T fluid, pour in new fluid at the charging pipe with the engine idling and at the same time drain the old fluid from the radiator cooler hose return side.
When the color of the fluid coming out is about the same as the color of the new fluid, the replacement is complete. The amount of new transmission fluid to use should be 30 to 50% of the stipulated amount.

A/T fluid: Genuine Nissan Matic J ATF
Fluid capacity: 10.3 (10-7/8 US qt, 9-1/8 lmp qt)

In other words, you will only be replacing a fraction (30-50%) of the total (almost 11 quarts), which comes to somewhere between 3.3 and 5.5 quarts. Follow the procedure!!

This procedure is a lot easier said than done trust me I've done it like that on my old car and it was spilling everywhere. BTW if you do get to do this you can do it with two people and have one person keep the brake down and run through the gears this will help get more fluid out the converter, but def not all of it.

I got mine done today speaking of the devil. I noticed that the car grinds a bit when I start to take off and its fine. They said it might be the new fluid?

i have done the AT drain and fill 3 times already. I think it is easier than the oil change. Just open the drain plug, let it drain, reinstall with new washer, and refill oil. You dont have to deal with the underbody cover as with an oil change.

For me it takes 4 qt of J-matic.
Diff takes little more than 3 pints. (also easy DIY)

Just changed the diff fluid and almost 2 quarts went it. It was pretty clean but there was a lot of metal shavings on the plug. seems to be running a little smoother but its probably just me. will be doing the tranny drain and fill myself soon. F**k the dealers

So I went to Circle Infiniti in NJ and got the flush done. The receipt said they used 10 Quarts. I paid 199.95 for the flush, and car car shifts a lot smoother now. I had the 05 g35x loaner and I must say that it looks pretty empty inside. Seemed a lot slower than my 03 g35.
