no, i meant sucking air - motors run on a mix of gasoline and water right??

You really need to have the cover on! Check out my "Gas Mileage" thread for more details on why, but without the cover, you're going to trash your filter within a couple of seconds if it rains.

i installed the cover and cleaned my intake. SES light did not go on the first rainfall, but we had a pretty thick blizzard come in and the SES light turned on first thing in the morning after I pulled out of my parking spot (i.e. after flooring it w/o VDC on for 30 seconds in a foot of snow)

will remove bumper, check for possible leaks, clean MAF, clean throttle body, and have autobarn check it. once again, the motor runs just fine

Make sure you do clean the MAF sensor, that could be the issue. It might be reading too much water/humidity.

I would be happy if we could change the car over to a MAP sensor system. That is what my UTEC does when it's under boost.

Would take a lot of water to do any damage within the engine, but not sure that the MAF sensor would like water or not....

yea, I took a look at the MAF.. the housing (not the MAF itself) had some hardwater spots on it.

I guess it is in need of a good cleaning! I already have a bottle of MAF cleaner and Throttle body cleaner

To clean the MAF, just douse it in MAF cleaner right?

and for the throttle body, just douse it in the Throttle body cleaner + tooth brush...but how do you move the throttle if it is electronic? do I just push the valve in with my fingers?
