Melted Rear Bumper..Warranty??

well i got around to washing my car yesterday when i noticed the area around the exhaust tip was melted.. I inspected a little further and saw that the styrofoam was partially melted also. the car is a 2006 G35 sedan with 15kmiles and factory exhaust. the rear exhaust section wasnt hit in any way causing the exhaust tips to shift upwards near the bumper.. would this be covered under warranty?

I would think it would be covered. But, how did it ever get that hot, do you leave it idling for long periods of time, if you were in motion you would think it would stay cool.

hell yeah it would be covered. wtf is that, a factory exhaust melting the rear bumper. must be some defect in manufacturing, and it slipped inspections. just take it, im sure theyll do everything they can to accomadate you, they dont need the bad rep.

If it's all stock I would think they will cover it.
That's strange...

i work for volvo as a tech and i leave plenty of cars running for an extended periods of time and never have i seen a bumper start to melt because of it.

That is strange. Maybe the exhaust is sitting too close or the tips are too short??

wow, it really did a job on the bumper. It might be just me but it almost looks like the exhaust tips are not sticking out enough.

Wow, I have never heard of this happening. I have to agree with others, my stock exhaust tips stuck out more than yours. Take it to the dealer and let us know what they say.

I dug up a picture of my 2005 G35X to show how far out the tips come. I think yours were tucked in too far, at least it sure looks like it. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of exhaust fumes were getting trapped in the bumper which also might have been a health hazard for getting in the car. It would be good to see a pic of yours before the bumper melted.
