Need some input

My 2005 6MT A/C is doing something funny. It blows warm air full tilt. I got in when the outside reading was 81 degrees. It kept blowing warm air on auto AC for about two miles. At this point I was sure that I was low on coolant or had some other problem with the system. I kept driving, turned off the AC, turned it to recirc, fiddled around with it some more, pretty much gave up, then turned it back on to auto AC, and without any warning, it started blowing ice cold air and cooled the car down in less than 5 minutes. It has done this twice now. ????? Is it an electronic malfunction that controls the temperature of the air mix that should be delivered for a given outside temp?
It is just very difficult to take it to the dealer who is 2 hours away, and I am afraid they will say the coolant level is fine and the duct air temp is fine and i will have to go back and forth. I would like to know what it might be so I can insist they check it.
Thanks for any suggestions.

I had the same problem. I live in Wisconsin and it has been below freezing since December. If I set the temp at 60 it would blow cold air. If I set it at 61 it would keep blowing hot air until I turned it back down to 60. One dealer said I have to wait til the cabin heats up to 61 before it shut off. I told him it would keep blowing hot 90 degree air after the cabin heated up past 80. Took it to a different dealer and they said it was a bad "sunload sensor" and replaced it under warranty. Hope this helps....
