foggy headlights and creaking counsel section

Does anyone know an easy way or how to clean the inside of the headlights. They look dirty from condensation. Also, is anyone else experiencing lots of creaking from the cheap (IMO) plastic silver middle section where the shifter is? GOD....please help me enjoy this car.

I guarantee that your headlights are fogged on the outside even though it looks like it's the inside. Get some clear plastic cleaner at a parts store and polish the lights with a soft rag. Road grime builds up on the lights and looks foggy.

Try Mothers or 3M plastic polish. You can also go to a sporting goods store if you want to try the stuff they use to polish out scratches in sports visors.

What are these headlight covers made of? I know this stuff used to be Lexan, but that doesn't do well with the sun!

Re: foggy headlights and creaking counsel section

I'm experiencing the creaking noise as well. For me it is where the top part of the console(by the radio and hvac controls are) meet the dash. If I jiggle that part, I can get the dash to creak. I think the console is rubbing on the dash. The dealer checked it out and said it was installed properly, something about "like legos the parts click into each other". I wonder if there is any material we could insert in between the parts to keep them from rubbing? I know my dealer tries hard since he fixed several rattles and cracking noises already. Now my seat is creaking, sounds like a sticky door opening in a horror movie! That should be an easy fix though. Let me know if you come up with a fix for the dash.

Re: foggy headlights and creaking counsel section

People used to use silicon spray to get rid of dash squeeks/noises....the lubrication would lessen or eliminate the noise. I would advise to test for colorfastness in an unobtrusive area first. I would think you should cover up any of the stereo/climate control/Nav buttons prior to spraying. I would recommend spraying VERY lightly and wiping up the excess immediately with an old cotton rag of some type. If you want to try it check Wal-Mart or Big Lots or a hardware store - they are bound to carry it.

Great suggestion about the silicone spray. I wonder if I could soak a Q-tip or a stiff piece of paper to lubricate the contact areas. Maybe a fine pointed brush like that used for detailing? That way could avoid overspray.
