VDC off, Slip and Brake lamps all on

While driving home this evening, I noticed that all three lamps were on. This happended to me once before but then I think it was just the VDC and Slip lamps. Restarting the car one time cleared the lamps then but not this time. I tried several times while stopped at a stop light to no avail. Still no change after pressing the VDC button and engaging and disengaging the e-brake several times. The lamps did eventually clear themselves after I stopped by K-Mart to pick up some items. I'm guessing the car was off for 10-15 minutes. The brake switch recall was performed during my 7500 mile service last July (2003) and my car currently has 12800 miles.

I plan to speak to my service tech tomorrow about this but in the interim was wondering whether others had similar experiences?

It sounds like they screwed up the brake switch recall fix.

Either that or you need your brakes replaced. I had the same problem before and got the brake recall looked at again and they also said my front brakes were dead. Replaced the brakes and everything is okay now. Infiniti will pay for the brake replacement since it is under warranty now so don't worry about that cost either. Just take the car to the dealer and do not do a ECU reset...let the dealer fix the issue.

It's still a G thang!!

Rumble is exactly correct. The same thing is happening with my car. I stopped driving my G and I am driving the old dependable Sentra. I have schedule an appointment for service, but Xmas was vey expensive this year so I the G wil remain in the Garage till I get the bucks to address the other items that that the 15-17k SERVICE call requires.

Thanks guys for your comments.

I contacted my service manager about this problem this morning. Unfortunately, no loaners are available this week so I've scheduled an appointment for the middle of next week.

The same thing happend again on the drive home tonight. This time, the lights came on (first the brake then the Slip and VDC) 5 minutes after starting the car. Coincidentally, this occurred just about the time the fan started blowing warm air through the cabin. Perhaps this is a clue??? I'll continue monitoring this for the next week.

Below are two messages posted on FA related to my problem that coincidentally corroborate what Rumble posted earlier:

I had the exact same problem with mine a couple of months ago. When I would do crazy or reckless maneuvers (as in 360s in a parking lot), both VDC OFF and the SLIP light would come on and stay on till I would restart the car. I figured that it probably some sensors freaking out.

A couple of weeks later, those both lights came back on, but with the addition of the brake lights as well. And I hadnt pushed my car in any way for a while when that started. I would simply shut the engine and start it back on and the lights would come off. But, that problem started re-occuring more and more frequently and the shutting off the engine method was less and less efficient till one day, the lights would just stay on regardless of shutting off the engine. This is when I brought it to my dealer. What the service rep told me was that the problem was my brakes being finished (the front ones in my case) and that, somehow (dont ask me how), trigerred both the VDC sensor and the SLIP sensor.

I dont know how accurate what the rep told me is and I didnt ask to many questions because they changed my brakes for free since I had about 8000 miles on them. (that was b4 the brake recall).

You may be on to something. Last weekend while replacing the high/fog and clearance bulbs and converting my side markers to flash with the turn signals, I did notice that the brake pads were low. So it's very possible that they need to be replaced. I'll know for sure next week. Thanks.

Update:

Took the car in for service yesterday (Wednesday) and they informed me the problem was due to low brake fluid. Whew! I'm glad that's all it was.

Because they already had the car, they went ahead and replaced the crank sensor per the recall. I also had them replace the clock with the new updated clock having larger hands. The purpose of the larger hands is to make it easier to tell time, especailly at night. I like it so far.
