I actually cant say that I have a beater car, but I do have a spare 2001 accord(see sig) that gives me a better milage but not power.

milage over power? I like to use more power than milage but accord saves me some $

yea, that's what surprised me the most, i'm paying less for insurance! since the civic is the primary, and G is secondary, i'm paying about $6 less a month. not much, but in 12 months that $6 becomes $72 and in 20 years thats $1440, whcih means new rims!! ok, a little far fetched, but it works.

I have two cars in the family. Both of them are driven every day and G gets more on the weekends.

I let my wife drive it during the week...........she gets better MPG

I don't have a beater, but I ride my bike a lot more than my car, not only is it twice as fast, but it gets double the gas mileage of the G. Something like 35mpgs

i got it for $6900 from a dealer. private sellers are almost always cheaper. one thing the dealer told me (private dealer, not honda dealership), they get all their cars from vegas in cali, from auctions at car dealerships. its just alot cheaper that way they say. but anyways, it had 104,000 miles, great condition, everythign working, so i'm happy. craigslist always has something. one thing i made sure of is mileage, i wasn't trying to buy a used civic that averaged more than 20,000 miles a year. anything below that to me is acceptable.
You want to know something funny? I had a 2000 civic SI in which i traded in when i got the G and the dealer gave me 5500 for it and it had 90k back in 04. 3 years later you buy an EX for $1400 more, which just tells me i got raped on the trade in......they probably made well more than 2 G's off of my trade in

Talking

question? isn't a G35s a "beater" level car?
Personally, I would get a project car or a weekend car, and use my G as a beater..
but i do get ~23-24 mpg (or more) on the G on average.. (80% freeway w/ hybrid driving skills)

My G is still my only car. I want to get some older civic or something to take to the movies, mall, grocery store and other places where I don't like leaving my car in the parking lot. My GF has an 05 Mazda 3 5D that we use for that kind of stuff right now.

A 30+ K car is not a beater car, unless you're rich.
