Clicking noise from A/C
Clicking noise from A/C
I have a 2004 G35 sedan, recently it has started to make a clicking sound when I start the car and the A/C comes on. It sounds like an actuator or something that is stuck. Has anyone had a similar problem? Where can I find a service manual for my car?
Thanks

never had that problem i turn off the air but let the fan blow before i turn off my car to ventalate fresh air in the cabin to avoid the musty smell. the manual should be in a leather pouch velcro to the floor in the trunk.
yup check the clutch on the compressor. If it's clicking on/off/on then you should get it checked immediately. If it's low on refrigerent then you might just need it topped off. If you run it low for too long you'll damage the compressor and need to replace it along with a bunch of other parts.
If the clicking is coming from the dash area I'd suspect that it was one of the doors getting stuck, could be as simple as debris stuck in the path of the door.

the sound is definitely coming from the dash, not from the compressor. Continuous clicks until I switch off of recirculate.

S*1t I'm having the same problem with mine. Only happens when you have it on recirculate. It sounds like the door is trying to go to far when it's being switched to recirculate. I think it lost it's open and close positions, if you can understand what I mean by that. The door is moving though. I was behind a stinky a$$ diesel truck today and switched to recirc and dealt with the clicking, but his smell went away. So it is working, just getting stuck...
Isn't there a diagnostics mode for the A/C? I remember my '89 skyline had one. I'll look in the service manual to see if the G's have it as well. Maybe we'll be able to reset the air computer.

Found the procedure, it's on page ATC-53~54
I went through the whole diagnostics procedure, but you don't have to. It didn't give the actual fault. It told me to replace the intake door motor circuit.
I decided to inspect the door before taking it to the dealer.
Found that an article was lodged into the door, which is why it wouldn't close all the way.
I'm going to resize the pictures that I took now. Then I will post up the step by step for you.

First take off the tabs.

Now remove the rubber ?gaskets?

Remove this hose from the plastic trim

Pull the plastic trim toward the front of the car.

Check this trap door for any foreign objects.

Here was mine, the red positive cable cover...

Good luck on finding yours

Hi,
I'm having the exact same issue when on recirculate. Any change someone can upload the pictures that are missing from PSEDOG's post here: https://g35driver.com/forums/2243863-post10.html
Thanks!
