1st night as a G35 owner

I finally picked up my G35s/6MT/Twilight Blue/Prem/NAV last night at JBA Infinity (Ellicott City, MD) after ordering 6 weeks ago. I was so damn happy I couldn't believe how beautiful the car was. JBA gave me an incredible price and exactly what I wanted for my trade. I would definately recommend them (see Matt Mohr). Anyway, as if I wasn't happy enough during my 90 mile drive south going home, something happened 2 miles from home that made my year! As I got off the Interstate I was passed by a late model Camaro who proceeded to cut in front of me and then move to the next lane as we approached a stop light. I looked over and saw two 20 somethings staring back at me and the driver starting revving up the motor. In a second's time, I was taken back 18 years (I'm 35) to my days of racing on the "strip" in Asbury Park, NJ on Friday and Saturday nights. Back to last night...As the light started to turn green, we both started revving up....GREEN....I punched it (didn't pop the clutch)...TCS came on after 1/2 second....shifted into second....hit third and backed off at 60mph and slowed to 45mph. About, 3 seconds later the camaro came flying past me. I was so happy I almost pissed myself. I tried to go no higher than 5k rpm....I know I'm supposed to keep it under 4k. In those few seconds I knew I made the right choice about this car. I wanted something that was luxurios and practical, but also a performance car. My last sports car was a 78 camaro that I had 15 years ago. Since then I've had several pickups and traded in a 2003 4cyl Accord. I want to thank everyone on this forum for their posts and helping me make my decision over the last couple of months. My TireRack rims w/Blizzaks also arrived yesterday, so I'll be putting those on this weekend. I'm looking forward to meeting some of you at the Capital G meet next month.

Damn, Asbury Park is a sad thing to see now, when I was a kid, it was cool, we went down there all the time!

Welcome to the club!

I have not encountered anyone who wants to race, everyone around where I live is very sedate.

Welcome to the site. And BTW it is an INFINITI that you drive, not a speaker (INFINITY).

Re: 1st night as a G35 owner

What the heck...I'm jealous!!! I ordered the same exact car except I wanted Aero also and my dealer told me that no car with all the stuff and color will be arriving on the East Coast...boy what a liar he was...(jerk. (the dealer))
That is great, now I can't wait to get mine...and I am in NJ and know The strip you are talking about....
Out of curiosity...did they have to order it from Japan? let me know because I will call and scream at my dealer...thanks
Edited by kfloydlezak on 02/02/04 09:15 AM.

Re: 1st night as a G35 owner

No, they didn't order it from Japan. I just called every dealer within 100 miles of me and told them what I wanted. JBA said they had a Black 6MT NAV in stock, the TB was already on order as well as a DG. I almost went for the DG, but now I'm glad I didn't. I didn't want to spend the extra $550 on the Aero, so I ordered a spoiler from spoilerdepot.com, painted, and shipped for $160 (via Ebay). I should get it in about a week. I put my new winter wheels with Blizzaks on last Saturday. This morning their was ice all over my driveway and I didn't have any problems at all. They are definately worth the investment.
