Car "died" coming home from a meet today!

so im on my way home (kendall) and i get off the turnpike onto 12th street and all of a sudden my car just bogs down completely, no throttle response AT ALL!!! i press the gas, NOTHING. i switch to neutral then drive, NOTHING. so im idling across the street and i finally find a complex and turn in. i park and make a visual inspection, are all my cars parts still there. they are. i turn off the car. i go to turn it back on and it takes a good 5 second to turn on, then 3 seconds. it progressively got back to normal but in park when i blip the gas i hear a very low backfire like noise after i let off the gas. and now the SES light is on!!!! WTF!!!!!

someone help!

the streets are there cuz i posted in the local forum and just copied it to here.

With the CEL light on, go to autozone and get them to read it to you. They do that for free. Post what code you're getting,

put the stock intake back in. sounds like your maf went bad, the ses light set off and now your engine is in limp mode

if you want to know if its the maf then disconnect it. it will put it into a limp mode as stated above but still should allow rpms up to 2500.

yea, if they get too dirty i.e. running with a poor filter than your maf can spontaneously combust

Check to make sure all the intake fittings are secure and in the correct position. It sounds to me like a vacuum leak. Even if the MAF completely fails, the engine can run up to 2,000rpms. It's a safeguard so that you don't get stranded somewhere. The fact that the car hardly runs makes me think it's not the MAF.

I had the same identical problem on my IS300 & yes it is the MAF sensor.
