Amsoil conical filter

OK well i'm trying to ditch the stock airbox with the K&N panel and I don't want to pay for the overpriced JWT popcharger kit. I ordered a mass air adapter for the G35/350z off ebay and will put a 3X5 Amsoil conical nanofiber filter on with an Injen universal heat shield. Do you guys think I will run into any problems with this setup? Here is the link for the G35 maf adapter... Also, I am trying to figure out if a 3x9 inch conical will be able to fit or am I limited to the 3x5?

I measered the length I have between the end of the mass air housing to where I run out of run and it measured 9.1 inches, so I believe the 3x9 filter should fit. It will be tight though... any opinions?

I already have the Z tube which is better than the stock intake tube by far, I don't think I will lose power by going to a Amsoil conical if I get a heat shield. I'm not really looking to gain more power just better filtering over the K&N anyway and possibly more sound. I could just get the Amsoil nanofiber panel but the conical looks much better and has much more surface area.

the biggest hurdle will be finding the correct replacement filter... I've been trying to determine which dry filter (either Ams or AEM) will be the replacement for Stillens K&N (which is the same size as JWT) since the nano fiber dry filter came out... still haven't been able to determine which dry filter to use.

As far as the intake itself, there are a bunch of choices and everyone could debate literally forever which one is best - so I won’t even go there.

If you do find the correct dry filter replacement for the Stillen/JWT you will be a hero!

I'm not using the Stillen/JWT MAF adapter so any filter with a 3 inch mouth will work. Amsoil makes a 3x5 filter which fill fit directly to the MAF adapter I posted.

you are chartering into territories not even approached by proven CAI systems... so there is ZERO luck finding your answer here... sorry.

I will keep you guys updated once the MAF adapter and Amsoil conical come in. I have a 9 inch K&N from my 4.6 DOHC and it looks like it won't fit so im gonna stay safe and order the 3x5 inch filter.

find the right fit, design an isothermal (heat dissipating or reflective) heat shield and you’ll be rich!!!! (and I want a discount )

Im looking into replacing my POP charger and going with a amsoil filter but I talked to my Amsoil guy and he told me that they dont make a filter that big. 6 inch inlet hole and 5 inches long so Ive also looked into the AEM and I think Ive found one but I hate to buy it online and not be sure without looking at it first.
