Agreed, thats like seeing a girl from the back who looks perfect, then you see her face(GROSS). Just like you, everyone just sees an auto shifter and laughs.

I would pay to see a car pull up next to you and try to go. Just tell them its an auto before. Then just burn him and never look back. That has to be one great feeling there.

I would be one of those many people that say some mods don't work We'll see how my G does against my friend's similiarly modded 6MT at the strip this spring.

To me. Basically a Z-tube and MD 5/16" spacer. Judging from my experiences at the strip against a 6MT and a handful of 6MT/5AT 350Zs, it will probably be a neck and neck race assuming he can land a low 2.2/high 2.1 60 foot. If the race went past 110mph, he'd probably walk me pretty good. I think I'll get the lead to about 50mph, then he'll close in, then we'll stay close the rest of the way.

power to weight ratio favors you... I figure you should be able to take him... one bad shift and its over for him... try off idle launch & compare to brake trq launch... I'd be interested to see the results.

Good luck! Represent the sedan!!!!

Edit... oops, I re-read - looks like you buddy is sedan too (nix the power to weight ratio - and hope for bad shift)... so represent AT!!! It should be a good race

i race my buddy in his 350z 6mt where im in an 03 g35 coupe 5at... we run at the track almost every weekend... His best and my best are both 8.8's in the 1/8th mile and my best trap is 81.9 where his is 82.6.. we have same mods only difference between 2 cars is the tranny and he has 17" stockers where i have 19" racingharts j8.. now on the street is way different.. if we go from a 40 roll he pulls about a car on me til bout 70mph and i start to gain about 85 we are neck and neck and then he has to shift to 4th when im still in 3rd and i pull... weve gone all the way to 130mph(closed road of course) and my 5at was bout car in front of him.....from a 60 roll we r neck and necj til bout 80 and i start pullin.... think its only cuz my 3rd gear last bout 10-15mph longer than him....

also i had a 350z 6mt b4 i got my 03 g35 coupe 5at.... like the 5at better

+1... VERY few here break 9.0 in the 1/8... I've only seen it twice and it was 8.9 (high)... This was WaLLy's G (much faster than most) and Sin's Z again much faster than most (I haven;t seen him around for a couple years)... All these Gs that are sub 14 in 1/4 and sub 9 in the 1/8 must be at sea level and/or in cold climate... it's very unlikely they would run those times at our tracks...

9.1+ @ 78-79 (I think, I need to look at slips)… I’ve never run when temps where less than 70s (most times much warmer… never in the 50s)… elevation is 750 ft above sea level – which is a big advantage for FL where just about everywhere is at or near sea level… Irwindale is not the best of tracks, but we don’t have many (or any) options.

Look into 3.7 FD – it will give you good acceleration and help especially in the 1/8
