I my self have pulled 2 1/2 cars on a a/t g35 coupe from a 40 roll to 100-110.. I have to admit that we were dead even till around 60 after i hit 3rd is when i started to pull. Ive seen some videos of A/t g35's and they seem very slugish around the 80-100mph range.
The A/T's dont get "slugish" its just a lack of a GEAR we 5 A/t dont have vs a 6 MT.
Gear ratios (:1)
5 A/T
6 M/T

1st
3.540
3.794

2nd
2.264
2.324

3rd
1.471
1.624

4th
1.000
1.271

5th
0.834
1.000

6th
-
0.794

Reverse
2.370
3.446

Final drive ratio(:1) AT/MT
3.357
3.538

Notice after 3rd gear what happens? Gear ratios for MT are higher which means more power/torque to the wheels. I dont want to get into the whole gear ratio lesson etc, you should know how it works already. Anyway, my point is a good 6mt driver will most likely pull on a 5a/t all the time. The issue becomes whos the better driver and by how much the mt drivers skill allows him to pull on the a/t guy? Let me race your BMX bike vs my 21 speed mountain bike!
BTW an I bet no 6mt can smoke a 5a/t on reverse look at that reverse gear ratio..... smoked!

in those categories I'd consider a GTR instead... the price range of the G8 & Challenger aren’t comparable to the cars you mentioned

Yes this is another big disadvantage the AT G35 have vs the MT g35. We have the same amount of power but the A/t's have to deal with the longer gears witch they cant take advantage of due to not having enough power witch ends up hurting performance in the long wrong..

If i had an AT i would deff look for a F/I Mt 350z or g35 and switch out rear diffs. These f/I Z or G guys with more power will be able to take advantage of these longer gears and you Ats will benfit from the shorter gears. So its a win/win situation for both sides.

This is must for any N/a AT that wants to get the most out of their car.

Sorry for the scatter-brained post, im sure someone will come in and make what im saying more understandable.

haven’t pushed since the 3.7s... considering I only car about short distance acceleration I'm not concerned about top speed... the fastest I've gone even with 3.3 was only 140... I have no real need for faster then that.

Ive taken her up to 145 and dont really find a need for this sort of speed with such little HP. Theoreticly you only need around 300hp to reach 155, but the time it takes to get their is a danger in it self along with going 155. Once i get the twins on ill be banging off the speed limiter like a rev limiter Right now N/a i dont find a need to go past 120.

yup he lives in jacksonville. his diable tt burned down a few years ago while my buddy was with him lol. the gt he has now is gorgeous. i was at a private photoshoot when he did the black strips with flames in them. havent kept up much but i know his traction was crap at low speeds but its a monster on the highway. hes taken down tons of cars and even turbo'd busas. i know he was supposed to race some of orlandos supras but not sure what happened.

The 6MT is geared deeper, but at highway speeds, torque multiplication isn't remotely as important or crucial. The 6MT will steadily pull away above 110mph or so, but it's not as bad as people think. The TC on the 5AT is locked above 3500-4500rpms (depending on gear) making a direct connection to the engine just like a manual, the 5AT only gives up about 10whp/10twq compared to the 6MT, and the gearing difference is pretty minimal at speeds below 110mph. Don't forget that the 5AT has a TC which is a torque multiplication device which greatly increase launch torque compared to that of the 6MT. The advantage is only momentary, but it's enough to keep the 5AT very competitive from 0-60 and usually gives the 5AT the advantage on the launch.
