yeah by ur sig. u have alot more mods than i do, so i guess i should be happy with a 8.8- 9.0.. going next weekend with new tires, 1st time going on stock 18's.. i want a sub 2.0 60' on street tires... ive gotten a few 2.001's but never a sub 2.0.. on my 8.8 runs i always have a 2.2 60'... if only i could get a 2.0 60' on 1 of the 8.8 runs. id be alot closer to mid 8's

8.8s in the 1/8 equates to around 13.6-13.7 in the 1/4 mile. With the VQ35, the conversion factor from 1/8 to 1/4 mile is ~1.55 times your 1/8 mile. I typically see lower 9.2s@77mph and finish with lower 14.3s@99mph.

Running 8.8s with what I consider a lightly modded 5AT coupe is pretty dang good and it shows me that conditions and/or the track (broken record: some are just quicker than others) are really good. Since this is FL, obviously the elevation is sea level and conditions are often very favorable in the fall and winter months (high baro pressure, cooler temps 50s/60s). It's not uncommon to have conditions equal negative density altitude or what I call, the Free Air Mod. It makes a HUGE difference and I can guarentee you a 9/10 chance that when you read about a freakishly quick car, it is often because the DA is amazing. Take a look at the Drag racing forum and you'll see that a stock 5AT 07 sedan did a 13.5@102mph which is awesome. Conditions that day at the track were -1,600' and the car was making approximately an additional 20whp because of it. At sea level, that's a 13.7-13.8 car and at 1,000' its a 13.9-14.0 second car.

Good luck! Represent the sedan!!!!

Edit... oops, I re-read - looks like you buddy is sedan too (nix the power to weight ratio - and hope for bad shift)... so represent AT!!! It should be a good race
He's driving a coupe 6MT. I think he's a decent driver. When we had Maximas, he was usually within a .1 seconds in the 60'. I was always a lot quicker because I had a lot more mods. Now that he has RWD, he should be able to land some decent 60 foots. I'll give him some pointers because I really want him to get into the lower 2.1s like myself so we can get a run down, increment by increment of the differences (if any) between the 6MT and 5AT. A couple years ago I got a couple runs in against a 6MT sedan. We were both stock at the time and we we're within hundreths and 1mph at all portions of the track, 60', etc. I won some and he won some. I'd like to see if this wan't a fluke.

Now if my friend strapped on DRs or slicks, I would be toast. When it comes to "potential" 60', the 5AT doesn't stand a chance unless you can't to install a 4000-4200rpm stall. That would be a fun drive around town

^let us know how it goes. When is the race?

+1 on tracks. I realise now that tracks are like dynos each one is going to yield different numbers, unless u race/dyno on the same day on the same track/dyno, numbers don't mean much. On our last 1/4 mile trip wally with his SMG M3 was pulling 2.1 6ft times and I was pulling the same. He was doint 13.8 at 102 and i was doing 14.2 @ 98. So if u actually compare the stock M3 magazine numbers to what wally was doing then He should be at about 13.4 @ 105 and I should be at 13.8 @ 101.

I will hit 13s though at that track this year.

Will do. He's on this site (ksu1998) and our track opens in late Feb/early March, weather depending. If it's above 40, they'll race. I'd love to get out there and race in 40 degree air. That could potentially mean a 14.1@100mph. I'll see if my 06 midpipe has helped (doubt it, but it is 25lbs lighter). I also plan on running a 96 octane mix and will hopefully have my ignition advanced +3 degrees.

Yes, like the guy above me said +2 degrees is the most common advance. We have not seen anyone do a pre and post dyno run to see if it actually does make a difference. Maybe you can be the first

all tunes advance ignition timing... other things as well of course... I've never seen a tune with dyno results that shows a loss...
