So they say the "G" has a low rent interior
We'll seems funny to me that the O4 TL has a headliner that's affixed with double sided tape. Seems that tape is failing fairly regularly these days and the Acura boys are up in arms about it. I personally would be embarassed to drive a 35K automobile with the headliner on top of my head, hanging like curtains in an old Movie theater.
Just a simple observation it's not always greener on the otherside.......
That's why I'm rollin a G. I'll admit the Acura interior is nice, although there may be a little smoke and mirrors special effects to it.

Not to go and flame up all the Honda folks, but I've always felt that Honda does a great job where it counts - engine technology and suspensions but they cut corners on some of the basics - although overall the cars stand up very well and have unbelievable resale values. - Look at the trunk hinges, hood seals & liner, basically "tinny" doors, generally poor braking distances etc.

That's interesting- my friend who got an 04 TL just emailed me a couple of days ago and said "I should have gotten the G. My roof is falling onto my head." I had no idea what he meant til I read this thred...

But.... while I'm sure that's annoying to deal with in a new car, it's better than blowing a motor or failing to start or something. That shouldn't be too tough for the dealer to fix.

TL interior is nice and super refined
The G35 interior is different, off, and not as refined.
My first reaction was, TL interior is way better then the G35, the G35 looks weird, I'm not used to it, etc.
After a week the odd interior had a lot of character and I loved the location of most of the things, power seat controls, steering controls, etc.)
G35 interior grows on you, the editors aren't spending enough time with it.
I'm not too excited about the 05 interior, my guess is it'll look plain-jane like the Altima.

I don't like the trunk release and the VDC button, that's my only complaint.
I love the seat controls being on the top (I can move the passenger seat without busting a streth-armstrong move).
The memory seats suck, but that's because of all of these safety things (brake has to be up, can't be moving, car has to be on). I also don't think there's a lot of room to get your hand down there to press the buttons. Those are my only complaints and none of them bother me much.
Climate control works, thus I rarely press any of those buttons. I don't think I've ever pressed the volume button on my radio, I always use the wheel controls. Thus, I like the gadgety look of the radio and climate control (lots of small buttons). Typically I like ***** for volume and big buttons you can find without looking, but since i never press the buttons I like the looks of it with all the small buttons.

I will say that the TL interior is definetly flashier. I have grown to like the G35 interior. It's no nonsense. I just wish that the stereo sounded a little better and that the dealer could fix my rattles.

Rattles? Did someone say Rattles? I have 9500 miles on my car and I bought it May 31, 2003 and I have had to bring it in 4 times for rattles! Only good thing to say is that I had rentals every time and put miles to the out of state casino's on them!

Re: So they say the "G" has a low rent interior
In my opinion although the G interior may not be as refined as some of it's competitors, it wears pretty well I have 31,000 on the clock now. The only thing that's somewhat annoying on occaision is the sunroof seal squeak. It seems only to occur when the car is cold. Keeping the sun shade closed when this happens helps a little. Perhaps a little lube on the seal will take care of it. Other wise my interior is spot on. I'm currently driving an "04" Max SE (rented for a business trip to Orlando). The interior in that car will be lucky to make it past 20K without some serious wear signs, especially if the owner doesn't take much care of it.

Love the design of the interior but the overall quality of the materials isn't up to the competition.

Re: So they say the "G" has a low rent interior
That might be the case, but neither is the price. I find the G's interior materials to be totally satisfactory for the price. I'd rather have the money spent in the parts of the G that truly matter more to me, the engine, gearbox, chassis, all the standard features you get in comparison to a BMW, etc. I really don't think the G's interior is that bad.
