From what I've read, there are more issues reported with the 6MT than the automatics.

I sometimes will get a little driveline stutter, but the trans seems to hold up pretty good. Like I said earlier, I intended to buy a 6MT but the 5AT felt much more solid.

Normally I wouldn’t post in a thread like this because for the most part I have no problems...

However - I feel a certain level of responsibility to mention the one major issue I have with my 04.5 AT...

MTs are surprised when I kick their @ss'... its a bit frustrating - but like most things in life, you learn to live with it.

Happy AT moding

I was just wondering, I've got a 5AT, but I usually use the triptronic, even for everyday use. Is that bad for my transmission or should it be alright?

True. The same JATCO5 is used in the cars with the VK45 (M45 for sure, but I don't remember if there was a Q in 2003 model year?). Since those engines are rated at 333 ft-lbs, it's safe to say that our cars won't reach the safety threshold without modifications.

I've used the manu-matic almost exclusively for over 100,000 miles, and I've had 0 problems with the trans in either drive or manu-matic. (Or whatever infiniti calls the manual shift mode.) At 114k now, and still going strong.

44kmi, no problems what so ever with the car/transmission. Fluid changes done on schedule, and I use manumatic 25% of the time.

No matter who changes your oil - ever if its' YOURSELF... check the level after a few dozen miles/day or two...
always.

*Edit/// this is for any fluid/oil.. motor, trans, rad, power steering, brake, dif (after svc)... even windshield washer fluid... Check your fluid levels!

I have when I do driving from OC to LA county, like Valencia it gets really warm in the car. My wife feels the heat by her feet like if I have the vents turned on for the floor, I barely run the fan in the car and she feels it.
